Grrrrr, I missed an item on ebay for a Ry Cooder Songbook published by Wise in 1980. I am on the hunt for this book. Anyone have any leads? Thanks.

the most amazing site for finding books is www.ABEbooks.com
it is a consortium of many book dealers, and you can often find
multiple copies of what you are looking for there. good luck!
or haw about on ry cooder's web site?

Ry Cooder Songbook.
Well I don't know how many books on Ry Cooder were published by Music Sales (Herb Wise) around 1980, but they employed me to do one.
I was introduced to Music Sales by Happy Traum who had already published several folk guitar books through the company. I had met Happy through Kicking Mule records, and we played many dates all over Europe & the States together. Happy is still active with his solo music and his company Homespun Tapes.
The first book I was involved with, through Music Sales was for Rory Gallagher. My part was the guitar score and tab. This was not very successful due to my working from a piano score written by a pro arranger in concert keys. The result being, say when Rory played a 12 string guitar tuned a half or full tone down and played C shapes, the arranger scored the dots in B or B flat.
(Davey Graham once told me the same thing had happened to his comp      .Anji- he saw it in a book scored in Eflat...he played in C capo 3rd fret.)
Anyway with Ry Cooder I had access to the music, they sent me an audio cassette with the selected tracks on it.
I thought including Boomers Story & Keep on Movin' was fine , but for copyright reasons they wanted He'll have to Go. which for me,had too many Jim Reeves connections for the UK. I don't know what was finally included because Music Sales never sent me a copy. Like to have seen it, but ghosts rarely get credited.
Transcribing music today is a very different process...not saying it's better.
Then we had to listen..today they watch.
Hope you find a copy of the book.
John James
