Karen's Net Monitor v3.5.1 Monitor your Internet connection! This Power Tool perodically tests the web servers and e-mail servers of your choice, and attempts to download a specific page. It can also test connections to any computer on the local network, or on the Internet! It reports any errors that occur, so you can take corrective action. New feature! The 'Net Monitor can now send e-mail notifications of failures at monitored web sites and e-mail servers. Note: E-mail notification feature requires Karen's E-Mailer II. For more information, read back issues of Karen's Power Tools newsletter: see Karen's Power Tools Robin |

From: The Fooles Troupe Taking into account the number of threads started here and in the help forum about whether the cat is up or down, I would have thought that people were doing that before they start those threads - this util may be also of use to the techie poeple who keep the cat running too... |

I don't see it as being particularly useful for users trying to work out whether Mudcat is up or down but I have a use for it. I run 2 websites and host a couple of others. I'll give it a try and set it up for something like 1/2 hourly tests on each server. The shared servers are monitored by my ISP but it could be handy to know if there have been any access problems. |

From: The Fooles Troupe Perhaps Mudcat users need only fire it up when they really want to know about Mudcat (or Mudchat!) - otherwise it could add too much of a load on the poor little server! - at least you will get a 'second opinion' if you are on your own... :-) |

From: Bill D if I dont get a response from Mudcat, or it seems slow, I just try a couple of other regular places to see if it's MY ISP or just Mudcat... "Karen's Power Tools" are really neat things, if YOU need and/or use those gadgets...they are free and well-written, but many folks simply don't want to know some of the stuff they monitor....and they were 'bit' more useful for Win98 and 2000, than they are for Win XP, which has some of those tricks built in. |
