I think he's based in Liverpool so we don't get to see him "Darn Sarf" often except at festivals. Catch him live if you can. Worth the effort. AND he doesnt charge a fortune for his books or cds - a really nice guy |

We put him on at our folk club in May just gone, most people hadn't seen him before and were amazed he wasn't better known. At Bromyard festival he did a song for me, and I hadn't even asked him, he has been told that I play it so he considered it a favour for advertising! As Moses says, he doesn't charge a fortune for merchandise, I forget how much his songbook is but his cd's are £5!! The first song I hear him do, funnily enough, was Tuesday night is always Kareoke. I would guess that I'll be the first in the US to do his songs. Starting with The Red Guitar one, but also like You Never Know What You Got. Hope he gets to the US sometime. I then asked for some help as there were nuances in the playing that I couldn't figure out, it's in my book came the reply, your book is not for sale on the website retorts I Less than a week later a book, free of charge and two complimentary tickets to a gig of his in Liverpool came through my letterbox ........ how generous do you want, since then we've been invited to a CD launch and another gig. Nice guy with good songs well performed. He's added a bit more patter to his gig - and I believe he's doing some stand up comedy in and around Liverpool. For those who have any doubt the "Holywood" referred to by Raggytash is in Belfast, not the other one. |
