BS: Today is a BAD day because....

I got woken up at 3 by a cat, then again at 4 by a big truck with a cherry picker, coming down the street, painting lampposts.

I watched them for a while, noticing that they carefully laid a dustsheet out on the pavement (sidewalk), but ignored the car directly beneath the light!

They then proceeded to paint a pale grey, visible lamp post black, with natty gold trim - a combination that is almost impossible to see. I've walked into more lampposts since they started painting them black than ever before!

It's now nearly 5 and I'm not going to get back to sleep again until about 10 minutes before the alarm goes off to wake me up!

Grrr grumble, mumble humph.....

LTS who isn't at all short tempered or grouchy, no.....

No, it isn't. It's a good day. Trust me on this.

I hear you, Liz. It starts out that you can't sleep, and the first person to post disagrees with you. He's right, though.

If the car beneath the lamppost isn't yours, it's a good day (for you).

Liz- you just forgot to remember what was good today.
Today was so beautiful. The leaves were at their peak of color and vibrancy. I couldn't have found a most perfect day in color if I had dreamt it in a dream.

Good day - I said goodbye for the moment to work colleagues and friends and have just found out how many people like me! That set off the fact that the hydraulic pipe on my car has busted and my mechanic can't get the part until Monday - when I'll be up and away.

So now I've got to hire a car for the weekend and get my car to my son's 60 miles from the repair shop after I've left the country. The good bit there is that my daughter sorted out the car hire on the internet and my mechanic. a friend of my son, has said that he will take the car to my son's house. Ain't people wonderful?

See???!!! It IS a bad day, the elves have stolen my cookie!!!

I want to be a curmudgeon today and no-one is going to stop me... not even a mention on Radio 2 and playing one of my favourite show tunes (Steve Martin singing 'You'll be a dentist' from 'Little Shop of Horrors') is going to make me feel better....

I've worked hard for this bad day, I'm entitled to it, and I'm going to have it!!!

You are laughing now, aren't you? lol

Your day reminds me of an old story that I'll try to recall for you. Goes like this:

We were poor, so poor that there was only water for the soup and no fuel to heat it with. We slept three to a bed for warmth, and the four of us boys shared three pair of pants, so every day one kid had to stay home from school. Dad worked three jobs and ma worked two. Still we couldn't make ends meet. The electric company cut off our electricity, the coal company stopped delivering, and even the dog was starting to look nervous. Then came the Depression!

Glad you said that, Martin Gibson - sore throat, headache, what else do I need to make it a bad day? How about my younger twin pitching the you-don't-love-me fit and making me late to my temp job?

"If you have your health, nothing can make it a bad day."

Well, that's my life buggered until the operation then.

Manitas, you have to come home, you're looking after the Limpit tonight, I'm going out on the razz. Well, out for a commiserating drink with a friend whose partner hasn't left them. Should be a barrel of laughs.

Brucie - we were so poor we could only afford one candle, we all had to huddle round it, and when it got really cold, so that the dewdrops were turning to ice on our noses, we lit it. Still, it was a great time for songs. I still remember the ones I learned at my daddys' knee. We were too poor to buy paper so he wrote them on his knee.

Today I are mostly being good. The drink turned into a really splendid dinner (lemon chicken followed by profiteroles, mmmmmmmm) and we had a damn good natter. Lots of things got sorted out and we're both much more settled and benign beings today.

I'm having a morning to myself, playing at cutting and sticking, and I may even go shopping later.

I found the perfect ribbon for a project, the perfect box for Limpits' Secret Santee and the perfect paper for another project. And I got more than 3 hours of sleep.

However, if the cat does that again at 5am, he is going arse backwards out the catflap.

I think the best device for putting a cat outside would be a small catapult and a skylight in the roof that opens automatically at the moment of ejection. Or maybe a greased metal tunnel that you can drop the cat into from the upper floor like putting garbage down a chute in an apartment building.

However, if ya had two cats, then you wouldn't need the automatic-skylight openers. The first cat would clear the way for the second. Sounds like a plan, LH.

I reserve my right to have a bad day. If i want to have a bad day, then i sure as hell will! Optimism is soooo...well, it just doesn't suit me. Hurrumph. I need bad days to make me angry, if i didn't have that i just wouldn't be motivated to do anything, i wouldn't write songs, and the good days would mean nothing to me...Vitriol is my driving force. Don't tell me to have a good day:)!But thanks for the thought...and feel free to have one yourself =D

Listen, pal. You are NOT gonna tell me to have a good day. I friggin' well will if I want. Got it?

Reminds me of Yogi Berra who said, "If people don't want to come to the game then there's nothin' you can do to stop 'em."

Yeah, right. My cell phone got trashed in New York, my watchband broke on the plane home, I had to get up at 3 a.m. NY time today, coffee dribbled down my shirt because the #@!$! clerk at Starbucks didn't put the lid on right, I got into it with the TSA people at the Newark airport over taking off my shoes...oh, hell yes. Wonderful day.

At least the planes didn't crash.

Today is a bad day because it is Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving) and instead of eating turkey meat and cranberry sauce with his family, my boychild is far away in a Saskatchewan college residence, from whence he tells me that he misses me for my green salads. Now isn't that heart-wrenching?

It's a bad day because idiotic people are trying to limit seed-eating to birds only and are harassing innocent squirrels and cutting down trees and behaving like total morons.

Today wasn't really a bad day (despite the fact that I woke up way too early and was working on a sleep deficit) and the weather was glorious (not that I was out in it), but at the end of the afternoon my boss gave me the heads up that my temp job since mid-July had about 2 weeks left. Sigh. I'd been entertaining the fantasy that it would be made permanent. I've felt totally at home there since I first crossed the doorstep for the interview. I really like the company, the people, the work and the type of printing they do (high end graphics-intensive art & photography books for art galleries, museums and academia).

I'm trying not to be depressed.

Was sitting in a Barber shop a year or so ago (had a haircut since then) and a real, real old gentleman walked in and sat down. We are talking close to a hundred I was told later. A barber said "Roy, hows' it going?" The reply; "Good, I woke up this morning".

I just realized how perfect and healthy and happy my family is in our beautiful new house. It seems that things could not be better so things could easily only get worse. If they do, we still had today.

My health insurance costs 6500 dollars a year and I can't get anyone on the phone at the managed care company to get the referral number for a biopsy. I've worked thirty one years for this. Other people haven't worked in thirty years and they get medical and drug benefits and draw a 2500 a month check from disability for less than twenty years work.
