Yesterday son Greg and I went on our annual guitar playing bonding road trip extravaganza. The hot tickets for us a Stutzman's in Rochester NY were in this order.

1. Huss and Dalton OM Custom at $2799.00- Clearly one of the best guitars I have ever played.

2. A Used Larrivee L-O3: at $999.00 a fair price for a very easy to play guitar. Very round and even sound, maybe at little boomy in the bass.

3. A 1970 Guild F-30: $ 579.00 because of many repairs, with the long scale neck, Typical balanced sound and solid bass for this model worth every cent and more for what would start your ownership as a beater and become a primary performance axe in short order.

4. A Taylor 214- S650.00-799.00 not really sure on the price.
This is a great guitar for the money. Sapele back and sides(Laminate or solid am not sure but it doesn't matter for the price and the quality of the product) and a Sitka top. 1 11/16 finger board and a 25.5 ish scale length. very plain, very solid in construction. Has all the sound of the Larrivee or the guild. Balanced sound is the only way to describe it. Finger picks sweetly and it strums well enough for any rythym style except shredding. Might even handle some Bluegrass leads. Matte finish. This was the bargain of the trip. Greg is looking for a new OM accoustic and he is leaning this way. His other choice was a Lo-Si-Do factory box. S & P or an A & L.

I would go for the Taylor myself.

The 214 is all-solid wood and a great buy for the money.

I own a 2005 210e and I agree- Great guitar for the $$. Solid back and sides. Only concern is the satin finish is somewhat delicate, but for the price, can anyone complain???

I'm partial to the Guild.... almost 40 yrs old
as long as the repairs were well done... fine recording axe as well
