Obit: Larry LaPrise (again...)

This just in, via email. I wish I felt certain that this is neither a hoax nor "old news," but I offer it for your consideration anyway:

"With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person which almost went unnoticed last week.

"Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey," died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started."

It is a hoax, about 10 years old.

Hello, PoppaGator - I think perhaps you forgot one of the Mudcat commandments:
    1. Thou shalt first search, lest thou be pointed out as redundundant.

Mea culpa, mea culpa. Y'all jumped on that *quick*!!!

Feel free to delete -- or, to punish me by leaving it here for all to witness my gullibility; I don't care.

If something seems like a hoax or an urban legend, check out www.snopes.com . They debunk most of these things!

Please spare a thought for PoppaGator. He is, after all, from New Orleans, and therefore not quite in touch with reality.
They also have some very unusual burial customs in his neck of the woods, so M. RePrise's will not seem strange to him.
Mebbe I will make Pops relive his discomfort when I visit next April, after the Mardi Gras, when things will have returned to near (term used advisedly) normal.
Heh heh.

That should of course read "LaPrise" not "RePrise"
Please fix it for me Mr Clone, or must it remain as evidence of my stupidity?????

Dead Horse, what would PoppaGator think if I corrected your mistake without wiping his out by deleting the entire thread? It really wouldn't be fair, would it?
PoppaGator wants company.

From: wilco

A friend forwarded me the sad news that the writer of the song "Hokey Pokey" had died. This is the song that goes:

Put your left foot in, put your left foot out,
do the hokey pokey, and you turn it all about.

According to my friend, all went well until they tried to put him in
the casket.

here we go again... from Mudcat history, that joke was posted in our old thread with a news date of 1996
Hokey pokey and the Druids?

Alice
I combined the new thread with the last (obviously not the only) open old thread.

I think the first mention came from our very own MMario, who posted it in 1999. Mind you, the ever-mature MMario was posting only to answer a question from somebody else. MMario the MMature did not inaugurate the discussion.

A good joke never dies...
A good joke????

Yes, that is the thread message I found, too, Joe by MMario.... he was quoting something dated 1996.
