If you should run into his current lead guitarist { Buddy Whittington } say hello from Wesley in Ft Worth Texas - Buddy's home town. He's one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. One heck of guitar player too.

I've been curious about 'Ull ever since I began to hang out at Mudcat, but this is the first time I *really* wished I could be there.

John Mayll and the Bluesbreakers WITH MICK TAYLOR? Wow!

Sod Diamond - but Mayall... All one might want would be Peter Green back as he used to be...

jOhn, you can see Punch the Horse any time -- and I'm sure you do! You can skip one of their shows to witness England's gift to the blues live at your City Hall. He's not going to live forever, you know...

The gig was amazing.

Mick Taylor snapped a string on the last song, and had to quickly swap with another guitar!
i must say, he did fiddle with his sound a lot, and didnt seem to be at his best, but he was still amazing.

Buddy blew everyone away, amazing, and John Mayall was fantastic as ever.

tickets were only 20 quid, so whoever missed it missed out big time!
there was about 6 seats empty.

but, it was a great night.

PS - for the person who mentioned Peter Green (Rich Bridge) i saw him as well, with his Splinter Group, last year. They were DAMN good. they played an acoustic set, and an electric set, and should be coming back to hull maybe next year. keep your eyes peeled, and i will advertise it on mudcat well in advance if hes playing. Very much worth seeing... there is a DVD out of the same concert (although not filmed at the Hull gig!) i have that too.

Ciao for now.

PPS - j0hn, it finished at 10.40pm, got home at 11.07pm, so too late to see Punch the Orse unfortunately, but I will no doubt see them again soon.
Next stop - Fartington (see hull smoking club thread)

I'm rather worried that jOhn might not live forever.

I played in the same town as jOhn mAyall on the same night, me.

I was running my club, otherwise I would have gone to see John Mayall

Saw him live in Brum with Peter Green just after Eric Clapton left the group, many many many years ago.

Saw him with Clapton in Aberystwyth in the 60's - total knockout, still fondly remembered. Got introduced to Eric after the gig by a mutual friend, a fellow Robert Johnson enthusiast - he seemed a bit zonked. Bought the Beano LP afterwards. Happy days.
