I thought it was called 'The Dundee Ghost', but here goes?
^^
Oh, a deid man seldom walks,
He very rarely talks,
Its no' very often you'll see them running around',
But I am a refugee
Fra' a graveyard in Dundee,
And I've come tae haunt some hooses in Glescae Too, oo, oo, oon,
I've come tae haunt some hooses in Glescae Toon.

Noo, the reasion I arose
Was tae get myself some clothes,
For it gets one hell of a cauld below the ground,
But I whispered tae mysel'
'Jock, you might as well'
Hang about for a while and hae some fyn'.

Noo a mab pit oot his light,
One cauld and wintery night,
I showed him one my eyes and slapped his heid,
He said 'Ooh!'and I said 'Booh!'
And he said 'Who the hell are you?'
I said, 'Don't be feart, I'm only a man that's deid'.

Well, the fella knelt and prayed,
And this was what he said,
'Why in the name of God have ye' picked on me?'
So I pulled away his rug
And I skelped him oor the lug,
'The reason' I said, 'is just to let you see'.

So he called a polisman in,
I battered him on the chin,
The polisman turned aroon' and he blamed my friend.
He marched him tae the jail
And he'll be in there a hell of a while,
But I'll see naebody rents his single end.

HAPPY HAUNTING!

Ok cultural difference - why is it called a 'single end'?

A single end is/was a one room flat usually with a sink (cold water only) under the window and a coal fired open range for cooking/heating. The toilet would be somewhere else, either in the tenement building or in the back green behind it. Bathrooms were something Americans had in the movies.

What we used to call a bed-sit[tting room], and now call a studio flat!

On the recording I have (in the car, so can't check) there is a final verse

Well the polis thought him daft
And a lot of people laughed
When the feller sayed a ghost was in his hoose
But what the feller said was true
And I might be visiting you
So just remember I'm still on the loose

You can get a lot of the words to his songs on his own website: just Google it. We do a Matt McGinn night every year in Linlithgow, and there is a concert in Glasgow this coming Sunday as a tribute to his songs - "We'll have a Mayday". It was just 30 years in January since he died.

Why is he nicknamed 'biscuit' McGinn?

Just take a look at the new re-vamped Matt mcGinn website, for lots of videos of folk singing his songs, even some rare archive footage of himself, and the lyrics and tunes to many of the songs. The site is being added to all the time by members of Matt's family.
