To go about getting a floor spot you may have to get in very early and see the MC, we have a fair few regulars who the Mc's normally put on so you would have to make yourself known. 10 Dec 04 - 12:28 PM (#1353165) Subject: RE: Jack Hudson Mansfield Folk Club Dec 14 From: GUEST,Capo da Monty I WAS THERE!! It was great to see/hear him again in the South. We all love him to bits down here. (All in the nicest possible taste you understand!) The reaction from folk I've spoken to was very positive. I was very privileged to do a support spot on the night. A chance to give the D-18GL an airing in public. (How you getting on with yours Burntstump!?). To my complete surprise the great man asked me to join him on "When will you call again.." at the end. I think we might go on the road as "Don and Phil"!! Very disappointed I won't be able to join the fun on 14th. Its a bit too far from Dorset for a midweek gig. See what I can do about Market Rasen next March. Have a great evening anyway. Sure you will. Regards to one n all. CdM |
11 Dec 04 - 04:11 AM (#1353780) Subject: RE: Jack Hudson Mansfield Folk Club Dec 14 From: burntstump Sorry you can't make the Mansfield gig, if you want a bed for the night just say. The Martin is just fine, sorry to say I don't play it as often as I should.Have you registered your D18GL with Valaree McGee I know she would like to hear from you, she is keeping a registar of all the D18GL owners. If I don't see you next week hope to see you in March. ps there is another gig in the pipeline that could be quite special. pps the new CD is sounding great, back in the studio tomorrow with Jack to try and add another track, you will flip when you hear it. |

And a superb guitar picker. Jack and a spot from Strolling Johnny and me fumbling about makibg an idiot of myself on the sound. Pete Thom has one of the friendliest clubs imaginable and I am sure everyone will have a great night. worth a drive |

15 Dec 04 - 06:13 AM (#1357385) Subject: RE: Jack Hudson Mansfield Folk Club Dec 14 From: Strollin' Johnny Well, I expected a veritable plethora of superlatives on here about Jack's performance last night at The Brown Cow. Come on yo'lot, he was excellent - tell the world about it! Excellently-crafted songs, great guitar playing, the laid-back style and the dark-brown-gravel voice as good as ever. And great sound thanks to WeeLittleDrummer. A lovely evening and a fine, friendly audience. Didn't even brick it when I did my spot! Magic! S:0) |
15 Dec 04 - 11:07 AM (#1357614) Subject: RE: Jack Hudson Mansfield Folk Club Dec 14 From: burntstump Whole heartedly agree, Jack was realy on form and kept the packed audiance engrossed all evening, very nice set from Strollin Johnny helped compliment a very good evenings entertainment. Mansfield Folk Club is a great venue, nice atmosphere and let's hope they re book Jack again before too long. |
15 Dec 04 - 11:14 AM (#1357623) Subject: RE: Jack Hudson Mansfield Folk Club Dec 14 From: Strollin' Johnny Thanks for the compliment Burntstump - I put it all down to that blue thumbpick (LOL!) |
15 Dec 04 - 11:16 AM (#1357628) Subject: RE: Jack Hudson Mansfield Folk Club Dec 14 From: Peter K (Fionn) If burntstump hadn't said it, I would certainly have said that SJ's set was also well worth a round of applause. Likewise whoever the guy was who was on first - who to my mind, standing as I was at the back of the romm, was favoured by a better sound balance than the others. Anyway, a terrific two-quid's worth, with grub thrown in too alas I'd already eaten). |
15 Dec 04 - 01:36 PM (#1357770) Subject: RE: Jack Hudson Mansfield Folk Club Dec 14 From: Big Al Whittle well i think we nailed the sound by the second set. I was using a sound initially that I like for myself, but it didn't work for Jack too well. Various people marked my card in the interval - and thanks for their comments. anyway we'll know better for next time - its the first time I've ever done sound for him,, and as I'm sure you can appreciate, its a fairly unusual voice. Very powerful. as always of course - Jack's playing and singing were a thing of beauty. a great set also from Strolling Johnny. |
