From: GUEST,Big however good the 'dance band' may be, the success of an evening depends upon the skill of the sound crew to cope with the acoustics in the venue and that of the caller to manage the dancers. The focus is generally on the band, but having played many times in many venues, I appreciate that we have to work as a team. Perhaps this is sometimes overlooked. |

I remember an occaison at a morris weekend (Scarborough it was, 2 or 3 years ago), great band but a shite caller ruined the evening for loads of folk. He seemed to call in a different language us northern people couldn't understand and then lost his temper when the dance went wrong. Sorry, not a folk awards story, but agreeing with the concept.
