Halló all, well folks I am back from Dublin Ireland and I have to say that I had a unforgetable time down there with my wife and many oters Icelanders, We arrived at the dublin airport at 12 on Thursday
and after checking In on the hotel we start looking around and we
got lost in Dublin for a three hours, but there was someone looking
after us and helped us out back to the hotel and we took it easy until on Friday we went to a pup called the three rocks i think and
there I went on stage and played and sang with the Marry Ploughboys
the song Wild Rover and I got all the people to sing with me there was people from the Us, Norway,Iceland and Ireland and I sang the two last chorus In Icelandic and all the Icelanders sang with me, and I have to say
this was the best Birthday gift i got this year the trip to Ireland and to be on stages live in Dublin this is a lot for a man like me and i will keep this In my memories for a long time.
On Saturday we went shopping jabb money spent you know Christmas is
coming. At Saturdaynight we went to see The Magic of the dance and Vá
what a show its great one. And after that i was gonna go to the Yellow house its a pup In Arth Fortham In Dublin I hope my spelling
is right and there I was gonna meet Mudcatter erinmaiden but my
herniacut was hurting me so I went to sleep.
Well Sunday and more shopping , and more shopping? just to have to say to you that you might think the Icelanders where not you know Okei, but
In viking time we just went over there and took it but we go over there now and pay for the things , just a joke no all the Icelanders go
just to shopping for christmas I think about 2000 of them goes to Dublin this year.We went to Wicklow mountains and to Acova and back on Sunday,On sunday night we went to the Celt on Earl street and there was some live music and then we went to O´Donoghue and there
where some people In session playing and I sang with the Old triangle
And it was great time, after a " few Pint of a guinnes we went to bed and today back home to Iceland. And here I am writing this dow I will have forgot some of things that we did do but we had a great time Down there, I forgot , something that will be in our mind for rest off our life and the visit to the Kilmainam Jail (Gaol)A dark history of All Ireland.
Well folks thats all I am planning to go back next autumn with
more Icelanders to Dublin, but first is a trip to Portaferry N-Ireland In February, All the best Skarpi Iceland.

Skarpi, that sounds like so much fun! I would love to have heard you all singing in Icelandic! Will you be posting any pictures anywhere? Good to hear you are back home AND planning some more trips! How about coming to the Getaway next October? There are a bunch of us who are going to try to be there. Max wants to get as many Mudcatters as possible to come to it next year. If you could come that would be just GRAND!

Thanks for sharing,

luvyakat

Oh, pooh. Skarpi, I had SO hoped that you'd somehow take Dublin back for the Vikings and I could recover my ancestral share. Oh well, I really don't need Stephens Green and Trinity College.

Glad you had a great time. Plan on a trip to the States and Canada sometime, too.

Oh, yeah -- are you sober yet?

RE: trip to the States. The Kendall Groupies are still accepting applications for his replacement and Skarpi is a definite possibility but given that 3-D hugs are part of the duties, you have to promise us at least one visit to satisfy the "interview" requirement. Thank you for pointing out that he is a Viking, harpie. We prefer Bad Boys.

Good on, Skarpi! My wife and I spent two weeks in Ireland last month, and like you, had a marvelous time. We were in: Killarney, Kinsale, Cork, Kenmare, Bunratty, Salt Hill, Clifden, Westport, Cong, Galway, Athlone and Dublin. The best session we heard, though, was in Athlone. Who would have thunk it. The only problem was, those folks drive on the wrong side of the road! Glad you had a great time.

No need be insulting about Athlone! I first started to seriously listen to traditional music and song when I came to Athlone first, thirty odd years ago! Where was the session?
