What a wonderful piece of lateral thinking, what else would you have as a memorial tribute for a man who played his sort of stuff. The show will be repeated tomorrow lunchtime, or you can hear it via Listen Again on the Radio4 website. Thanks John. Giok |

Heard the programme myself this evening with very much the same emotions as yours - grabbed my old Guild and did a reasonable fingerstyle approximation of the accompaniment after it had finished. Might try to tape it tomorrow and do the job properly - it would be nice to do something in JP's memory. Brilliantly written IMHO. Dave Bennett |

Let's have a minutes racket 'Tho he isn't coming back, it Seems we understand the need To play something loud and at the wrong speed A minutes silence couldn't show him How we feel Let's have a minutes noise for Peel Played in A (G capo 2 G, D, C, Em. for Folkies!) It should be available on the BBC Website for a few more days. I read a letter in, I think The Times, where some-one had written that they thought it might be appropriate to have a minutes noise for John Peel, because of his contribution to music, rather than a minutes silence. It was very poignant to have a song along the same lines - (perhaps the R4 team read the same letter) the same week and with the Remembrance Celebrations at the same time. |
