I want to lean the music to the verses of "Always on the Sunnyside". I've heard the chorus sung for years but not the verses. I did hear Garrison Keillor sing the song on his show. Where can I find a Tape/CD, etc. that could help me? Thank you for your help. BFP

BFP-- Go to the search box at upper right and type in KEEP ON THE SUNNY SIDE. When the list comes up, the song you want is number two.

Dear BFP,

If you click on "Help Support the Mudcat" above this thread, you will have access to several CD marketers. If you go to them and search for "Keep on the Sunny Side", you will find several recordings. If you order in this manner, you will help support the Mudcat. I looked briefly through CD Now and found the following:

The Carter Family
Anchored in Love
PGD/Rounder
09/15/93

Flatt and Scruggs
Songs of the Famous Carter Family
Sony Music
10/23/90

Good luck with the song, it is a good 'un which is why it is so often recorded.

...I just use C F and G7. Anything more seems unCarterish!

You can add a C7, e.g.,

He will [C]help us every [C7]day,

As usual, it sounds better when played with Carter-style licks, hammer-ons and bass runs connecting the chords (there's a thread or two on this).

I often play it with the capo on 5 and the right hand closer to the bridge (especially when flat picking) for a tinnier sound. Helps to pick up the autoharp feel.

Need mandoline tab for Keep on the Sunnyside.

This site says it has mando tab....but you are better than I am if you can find it. The DT mirror doesn't have it either.
