Sad news for the bluegrass folks, Bob Paisley, of the Southern Grass died this morning after a long battle with cancer. Don't know if he was known in Europe, but he was well known here.

Bob Paisley was such a nice man and put together a terrific traditional bluegrass band which includes two of his sons. He taught them well, and the band will continue to be great. Southern Grass is driving, rock solid bluegrass of the finest kind. His son Dan Paisley has one of the best bluegrass voices I've ever heard, and I was amazed to discover in a conversation with him that this man with so much talent sells appliances at Sears during the slow months!

Bob seemed to be a gentleman and he was certainly a trooper. He had been fighting this illness for years. We saw him perform last Labor Day at Delaware Valley River Gap festival in NJ, and just this past Labor Day at Thomas Point Beach in Maine.

The band will carry on, I trust. Looks like he has a couple of sons
who continue to play...

Could not believe it true. Its been a while now since we talked and played. Bob was over in Holland with his fine band when he learned us about his way of playing bluegrass.

Our regards go out to his wife Vivian and the 'kids'. It won't be the same anymore.
