09 Dec 04 - 11:46 AM (#1352052) Subject: Wanted: Mise Eire on video From: GUEST,JTT I'm looking for a copy of Mise Éire, George Morrison's film about the 1916 Rising, using contemporary footage. It's out of print in Ireland, and there are no plans to put it on DVD until next autumn - "nó nios déanaí, bhféidir", according to Gael-Linn. So if I can get a copy I'll get it transferred to DVD myself, if possible, and have a copy I can watch on the TV. Doesn't matter if it's PAL or NTSC; apparently Euro-VCRs can show either. |

I don't know where we'd get An Tine Bheó (elderly ex-fighters talking in the 1960s). I was astonished when I went looking for the DVD - I assumed that it would be in every DVD rental place, and more than that, that both films would be on the history and Irish curriculum in Irish schools. In any other country, could you imagine actual historic film of its founding revolution not being on the curriculum? |
