I suppose it depends on your expectations as to whether you enjoy the singaround in the back bar. If you have been used to using the private function room, then I'm not surprised that you're unhappy. The Barton singaround originally started in that back bar & I always found it very cosy. Of course it's not ideal, with access to the toilets and to the kitchen & back door also, but they're a friendly crowd in the Pub. And yes, it is a smoky atmosphere & sometimes quite noisy too, but this is only to be expected as it's not completely separated from the main bar. The function room at the rear is actually part of the Pub's business & will need income so I can understand why the singaround is back in the main pub. I'm sure that you appreciate that a free singaround cannot possibly hire a private room for it's venue. I don't know what the current arrangements are, but I'm sure that Ross will make things clear when he comes back on-line again. |
