The poor little guy, so recently discovered on Mudcat due to jOhn from Hull's thread about people yelling "Marmalade!" has passed away due to heart trouble.

Marmalade passes on...

Gee, wouldn't a better thread title be "Obit: Marmalade the cat is toast!!!"?

I'm so very, very sorry. I never knew him, but I'm certain that his yowling and marking will be sorely missed.

Our old Cammy went to greener pastures last month. She was 31.

Condolences. It's always hard. Only time, eh ? And, perhaps, another one right away. I can't recall... you got any others ?

MY Marmalade crossed the Rainbow Bridge at age 17, a year after his twin brother, Foolish. Couldn't tell them apart except for the fact that the orange one had a fatter face than the black and white one. Actually, since cats don't officially come in orange, Marmalade probably wasn't a cat. I think he may have been an ankle high giraffe with a very short neck. (And his brother may have been a little turkey . . .)

In actuality, they were major feline presences in my life and I think of them both daily (sorry Mortimer and Sabine) and I miss them both very much.

I am going to resist the temptation to post the 'Orange Cat' story here as this is a serious thread . Marmalade looks like he was a fun Kit !

So Sorry......I hate losing them. They give us so much pleasure but their time is too short.

Thanks gnu, yeah it was really hard, I blubbered around here for quite awhile, her passing seemed to signify a lot of other passings too.

I should have mentioned, instead of being a smart ass, that Cammy was my daughter's old pony and unlike moggies, preparing a final resting place for a horse is in itself another ordeal and not particularly dignified for man nor beast. Although I spent a long time sitting in the rain and muck, at least I got to cradle her old head and experience the light leave her gently.

We've still got another and despite the fact that Sailor bullied her about, he's one sad pony now that she's gone.

I won't be seeking a replacement, the rain now makes my bones ache too when winter comes and just one, is more than enough to deal with from here on.

good grief! 22 was the oldest cat *I* ever heard of! 25 0r 26 would be ancient..31 oughta be some sort of record.

It was the pony that was 31, Bill. The pony.

My pair were fine at age 18 - then one just disappeared, the other lasted a few months more then was 'got' by a dog.

One of the most difficult things I ever did was to say goodbye to my kitty, last January, who was with me for 20 1/2 years. That's alotta kitty litter! Her little heart was giving out.

Now if that Marmalade cat that the fat lady has in England ( the lady who hollers MARMALADE! and bugs Sir john) just dies..all will be right with the world. Maybe we could swap THAt Marmalade for the one we all like...

You know, Offer God an even swap.

Works for me

Actually, I've though about it and I don't want the CAT to die..just for the lady to suddenly lose her voice forever.

May all hollering people everywhere lose their voices.
