Subject: looking for (elusive) lyrics
From: GUEST,alongbeach

I am looking for lyrics to a song I heard at a fair in Ohio:

the chorus goes "All in a day, laddie, all in a day. She's leaving today, laddie, she's sailing away"

Any help would be appreciated

It might be ALL in A Day by Alex Glasgow, the words of which you will find in this thread, posted by Guest,MCP: Click Here. The following post also gives the tune.

Let us know if this isn't it and we'll try to help.:-)

It worked for me too and I'm sure that it is the song in question. Jed Foley used to sing it a lot with the House Band and they toured the States often enough. As stated in the previous thread Alex Glasgow wrote it as part of a much larger piece called "The Tyne Slides By" and it was featured on BBC TV's "Camera and the Song" series back in the 1970's. The whole piece is featured, along with "Close The Coalhouse Door" on the CD "Songs of Alex Glasgow" (Mawson and Swan)
