16 Dec 04 - 12:33 AM (#1358296) Subject: Porn Star Attacks L.A. Folk Music Venue From: YorkshireYankee This is pretty damn sad... and scary... "It's a neighborhood dispute that could only happen in the San Fernando Valley, world capitol of porn. Kulak's Woodshed (www.kulakswoodshed.com) a quaint, unassuming volunteer-run and donation-supported music venue in the heart of North Hollywood has come under relentless attack by its neighbor, Charles Peyton, AKA Jeff Stryker, one of the biggest names in porn. A lively hearing before the LA Zoning Department took place in Van Nuys last Friday, with over 100 supporters attending with Woodshed owner Paul Kulak. A second hearing that promises to be even more passionate has been scheduled for Friday, December 15 at 11724 Addison in Valley Village, beginning at 7pm sharp." Read the rest of it... |

16 Dec 04 - 09:09 AM (#1358601) Subject: RE: Porn Star Attacks L.A. Folk Music Venue From: Rapparee Ah, LA! Seems to me that the Club has a good case for a temporary or permanent restraining order. Or more if they can prove it -- and the email would provide evidence of at least a health violation. Playing the stereo as loud as the story suggests and against a common wall is grounds for a complaint about the porn guy denying the Club rightful use and enjoyment of their premises. But this is all harrassment, vindictiveness, nastiness. That the police won't get involved is puzzling, especially the kick-boxing bit. Hmmm...maybe its time for the Woodshed to enlist the help of the Religious Right? A picket line (all legal) around the fool's property, calling attention to his sinful ways that entice the youth of our nation into the arms of vice and which sent them spinning down to hell.... |

16 Dec 04 - 09:10 AM (#1358604) Subject: RE: Porn Star Attacks L.A. Folk Music Venue From: The Shambles It would seem that people in glass house shouldn't throw stones etc. It should not be too difficult - to use the same tactics against Mr Stryker, whose porn activities will always be questionably legal. Although he may have a lot more money than the music venue does. |

Folk Music Venue From: Bob Hitchcock Wow, maybe if they could just get along as Art said, they could join forces and have the Woodshed provide the soundtrack for the porn movies. At least that would spell the end of the Wah-Wah pedal. Bob |

"Coal Tattoo"? "Three Whores Came Down From Winnipeg?" "Killicrankie"? "We're Off To Dublin In The Green"? "Black Snake Moan"? "St. James Infirmary"? "Frankie And Johnny"? I'm not sure...just the titles...well, it could certainly cause a stir. |

20 Dec 04 - 06:12 PM (#1361882) Subject: RE: Porn Star Attacks L.A. Folk Music Venue From: YorkshireYankee I've Googled to see if I can find out what happened at the hearing. No new articles turned up in the results; so far the only thing I can find is a quick comment on some newsgroup/bulletin board type place (called "the basement"; looks interesting, actually) which says: "...news is Kulak's survived City hearing, decision on future from council due in February, upcoming local meeting to get community input. Should be a shoe in I figure, Most neighbor's gotta like Kulak's even though some fella(weirdo) don't." |
