Gosport & Fareham Easter Festival (March 2005)

17 Dec 04 - 01:42 AM (#1359387)
Subject: Gosport & Fareham Easter Festival
From: GUEST,Peter

The 2005 Gosport & Fareham Easter Festival will take place in Hampshire, England over the Easter weekend, Thursday 24 March to Monday 28 March, 2005 inclusive.

Artistes confirmed so far include Ralph McTell; Show of Hands; Oysterband; The Sharon Shannon Band; Jez Lowe & The Bad Pennies; The Eliza Carthy Band; Harvey Andrews; Chris Newman & Maire Ni Chathasaigh; Rod Clements; Eleanor McEvoy; and Country Joe McDonald.

As there'd been rumours that the Festival might not be happening in 2005 we wanted to get in early and assure everyone that it most certainly will be taking place as normal in all our usual venues.

Anyone wanting further information can e-mail http://www.eastfest@talk21.com and our website should be updated before the New Year.

This Festival looks to have an impressive line-up.

Nice to see Harvey Andrews among the listed artistes.

After his recent ill health it's good to see Harvey out on the road again.

If all 2005 festivals have as many good acts as this one then it should be a vintage year.

Anyone know the box office number for ticket enquiries?

Two days past the New Year and we're already looking at Easter.

Strong list of performers tempts me though.

Anyone got any experience of this festival?

I've been a couple of times and greatly enjoyed it.

All the concerts are indoors and there are some fine late-night sessions.

Everyone is very friendly: stewards, door staff, stallholders, performers, audience, everyone.

It doesn't take over the town in the way that Chippenham, Broadstairs and Sidmouth do but it is a good way to ease yourself into another festivals season and the music is always of a very high quality with good sound systems as well.

In short, I recommend it.
