From Max: Mudcat Back

26 Dec 04 - 06:51 PM (#1364760)
Subject: From Max: Mudcat Back
From: Max

Well, I hope you all had a good Xmas. I was confronted with the decision to drive back from the in-laws on Xmas eve to fix this problem I had at home. The Mudcat was down. I chose not to. We had a hardware problem called a RAID Controller Failure. I switched controllers, but just in case, I'll spend the night making a backup server because I am going back out of town next week, for a week, and I'd hate for this to happen again... for a whole week.

I had a great Xmas, and I hope you all did too. And maybe you spent a bit more time with the family because of the lack of the Mudcat distraction.

Peace and Love,

Max

When it comes back, I always feel like the school bell has rung at the end of a long day, and I and the rest of the too-well-behaved children erupt loudly, clog the doors escaping, and pelt out to freedom.

And then I realize the free time Max gives up to MAKE the bell ring, and I feel really shitty, but terribly grateful. Yes I spent more time with Hardi, but then again I could not regale him with jokes from Mudcat! :~)

Max-- GOOD call on not coming back early to ring the bell.

Thanks for checking in and tidying things up.

We've been so busy doing Christmas things that we really haven't had much chance for a Mudcat break anyway.

Glad you took some time for you and your family.

What it means Bill is that Max needs a good kick in the balls...........Not for making a wise decision this time, but for all of those other times when he opted to foul up his personal life for this place. We love ya' Max, but I love ya' more when you take care of things that matter first...........and family always matters first.

Hope your Christmas was merry and that the New Year brings you an attack of foul smelling gas, so bad that you can't get laid for a week!

Max, I'm glad you didn't come back early to fix the problem. I'm so glad that Mudcat is back. I appreciate all your hard work, and I appreciate you. :-)

I am staying with Sinsull now. We've been having a great time doing nothing but eating, sleeping, and talking. Now she has a chest cold and feels crummy. When I tell her that Mudcat is up, I'm sure she'll feel a lot better.

Thanks again and happy holidays.

Max, your decision was the right one!
Christmas should be spent with the family, not with computer problems!

I hope your Christmas was better than mine. (my father is in hospital since yesterday, had an emergency OP for his inguinal hernia and feels quite well now, but is still in hospital)

Thanks for doing all the work to keep the Mudcat running!

Yes, for sure, Max, thanks for this all-year-long Christmas gift you give to all of us.---- But have you ever wondered why there are so many more outlaw songs than inlaw songs? I figure it's the reason why there are so many more outlaw news stories than the other kinds.

You and yours have a great New Year that exceeds by far your greatest expectations.

And the same to everyone reading this post!!!

So there will be lots of lovely Christmas pictures of the girls in the gallery soon then?

Actually to be honest, I'm quite upset there was no Mudcat.... Because our computer died the other week, I've haven't got my normal diversions loaded.... so I had to find some more and have now got addicted to a game called Elf Balls..... sometimes Max, you can be soooo annoying!

I hope your break was wonderful, and your Christmas as peaceful as a house with small children in it can be.

If Max had screwed up his family's Christmas it would have made most Mudcatters feel all mean and exploitative, and that would have messed up our Christmas. Part of the Mudcat magic, I think, is tied up with the feeling that it should never be taken for granted.

Just in case - Happy New Year everyone.

To the newer folks--

It's a good idea to look here and bookmark it:

http://help.mudcat.org/

When Mudcat is down, there are usually posts there explaining it. If even the Help forum is down, it's all REALLY broken. The Help forum and the main forum live on different server-computers, so if the main forum server is having trouble, Help usually is up and running.

Selfish little twit!! You decide it's more important to spend time with family and celebrate a holiday properly??????? So you doom me to overeating, spoiling my grandkids, enjoying my parents, playing Christmas songs for the kids, and chasing Mama around the house and yelling "HOHOHOHOHOHOHO.....time for YOUR gift, lady".   And to think I could have spent it in front of a monitor instead. But you, you self centered wanker, you think that you can just take time off. I am going to dock your pay!!!

Love,
