27 Dec 04 - 12:27 AM (#1364827) Subject: BS: Get well, Sinsull From: Pauline L I'm having a great time spending part of the holiday season with Sinsull. She knew that I was depressed, so she invited me to visit. Isn't that great? We've been having a good time doing nothing. Well, not really nothing. We've been eating to excess, sleeping long hours, talking on and on, and playing with her four cats and Kendall's dog (she's keeping the dog while Kendall and Jacqui are away). Now Sinsull has a chest cold. She keeps telling me, between bouts of coughing, that this is not a serious illness and that she'll be all better very soon. I know that this is not a serious illness, but I also know that it can make you feel crummy. I think some cheer and get well wishes from Mudcatters would speed her recovery. Pauline |

Leave in Fridge for a few Hours then take tiny sips....clears the chest very quickly. Like I say doesn't taste too good, although I don't mind the taste as I have found it to be very affective. 27 Dec 04 - 05:22 AM (#1364909) Subject: RE: BS: Get well, Sinsull From: gnu Lots of HOT tea and grub and sleep. Hmmm, four cats and a dog. Forget the sleep. Burcie's right about the time. Just remember, any longer than a week and it's time to see the doc. They actually have a medicine that will destroy the little beasties in four days but I wouldn't pay the bucks for the last three days unless it WAS serious. Most doc's around here won't prescribe it unless there are complications or you are elderly. Anyway, you ain't gettin any doc on the line today... everthing here that was going to open despite the "holidays" isn't going to open until we get shovelled out of these blizzard conditions. Keep resting, it's the best of all the cures, and take anything and everything that might ease and urge the healing- do you still have any rum balls left? They've got to heal you right up! 27 Dec 04 - 11:27 AM (#1365117) Subject: RE: BS: Get well, Sinsull From: Allan C. Hey, its just as Kendall says... vitamin C and zinc - so drink some milk from a galvanized steel bucket and eventually your troubles will be over. Oh, wait, I now remember that you don't like milk. Well then, cook some broccoli in that bucket instead. That should have about the same effect. |

I'm glad that Pauline's there to take care of you, even if you are a bad patient it's a good idea to allow yourself to be fussed over for a while when you're like that. Vitamin C and zinc is good, but a Jack Daniels will make you FEEL good as well! |
27 Dec 04 - 12:55 PM (#1365175) Subject: RE: BS: Get well, Sinsull From: Pauline L An update on Sinsull: The cats and dog are taking very good care of her. They lie in bed and sleep with her. She is not at all a bad patient. As her chief human caretaker at the moment, I like everyone's recipes for get well medicine -- some more than others. My years of work at the FDA have equipped me with knowledge of foods, drugs, and toxins. I really laughed at Allan C's advice on the galvanized steel bucket. I won't even try to feed her a concoction of cider vinegar, garlic, and honey. Sinsull is too tired to eat my good cooking, but she likes the smell, so it won't be long now. Thanks for everyone's good wishes for her and me. |
27 Dec 04 - 01:15 PM (#1365185) Subject: RE: BS: Get well, Sinsull From: gnu Jacqui.c... It's better to have the tail end of a virus than a virus in the tail end. (Hey, at least I'm tryin.) Just be thankful you're gone for the storm. I don't know how Maine is making out but the snow plows were just taken off the roads here in Moncton and a surge warning is in effect along the Northumberland Straight. |

27 Dec 04 - 01:45 PM (#1365209) Subject: RE: BS: Get well, Sinsull From: Ferrara Ah, Sinsull, lovely lady, if you haveta be sick, you've arranged it very well -- four cats and a dog to snuggle with, and Pauline who, I can vouch for this, is a very good caretaker. (Pauline once took fantastic care of me at the Getaway, the year before I got my new heart. At that time no one knew I had a heart problem -- the docs thought it was asthma -- but I was sick, exhausted, and coughing my head off. Pauline noticed, and arranged all kinds of support and help to get me through that miserable weekend.) Well Sinsull, be well soon! And Pauline, get LOTS of rest, hot tea, and everything, because as you know these virus-y things like to visit as many folks as possible over the holidays ;-) Hope the rest of your holiday is delightful. Peace and love and good health to you both, Rita |

I lost my singing voice on Sunday 19th, while singing! and still can't find it!! My husband is enjoying some peace but the cough is hell and keeps the whole street awake. Lots of liquid they say - and a spoon of honey as often as you like as it's natures antiseptic (so says my neighbour). It's the first Christmas that I've not been able to sing and the cold air sets off my cough so I haven't even been out since 24th. Still, if that's all I've got to put up with I'll stop moaning now - thoughts go to those poor souls caught up in the tsunami. Good wishes to all for 2005. Hazel. |
