Good news. I tried to learn a 96 bass button accordian once, and was defeated, so I consider accordian players especially courageous. Getting air into it felt like constantly trying to resuscitate a drowned mule, whilst simultaneously typing with both hands in chinese on unmarked keys. Not the easiest.

Oh well mine is easy to blow. I did and still do have trouble with the left hand however. But I am getting there. 96 Bass does seem a little over kill to me. How many fingers does one have?

I'd been inspired to try by seeing, live, the Leningrad Cowboys play "Why why why Delilah" and Flaco Jimenez all in one day , a true art moment. It's still one of my favourite instruments, visually too- that '50s pearl celluloid gets me every time. Of course the shiny black ones look tasty too, a bit like American mobster cars from the "40s.I even have a wreck of a banjo in that pearloid stuff to do up one fine day.

What tunes do you play on yr accordian if that's not too personal a question?

Well it is funny you should ask that. Cos I am just trying to use more than one base button at a time so I am struggling to play anything at the moment. But "Hunt the Squirrel" is one "Lord of the Dance" and TWO more that I can't remember the names of. But I hope to improve in the new year. Happy New Year and see you soon.

Directions: it's along Port Vale, on the same street (and 5 mins from) as the Courtyard Arts Centre. Go from the Courtyard, away from the centre of town, along past the school, past the bollards, 2 min further on the right. Send me your email addy & I'l send a map.

Hi Eleanor. I have just had a quick look around for The Millstream. I found Mill St or Mill Rd and also the stream, but I still could not find The Millstream Pub. Is it near there? I have also PMed you my e mail address. Cheers.

Fear not, MfB, the Millstream does exist! By road access to Port Vale is easiest from the roundabout by Hertford North station.

See Streetmap

We should be there, but I'm still minus a functional left arm!

Just been sittig in an 18th Century Coaching Inn, with four roaring fires and real ale, looking out at the dark and rain and cars, thinking this is great, when they ran out of Adnams, which is not usually a problem but all they had left was Green King I.P.A. So I went home, in the dark and the rain and the traffic.

MFB you must have drunk a lot of their Adnams for them to run out, hope it kept you warm on the way home in the rain.

Bet they never ran out in the 18th cent.

I kno not what is Green King IPA.

Hi Steve,
It's just a singaround in the back of a pub. Anyone is welcome and doing a turn voluntary.
The beer is Macs from the brewery about 200yards off.
Give it a try,
Keith.

Hi Eleanor. I.P.A stands for Indian Pale Ale and it is made by The Green King Brewary. It is very popular with people who know nothing about real ale. (But that is only my opinion) CU on Wednesday.

Hi all,
and hello Steve do come along you are most welcome - port vale is narrow, most people approach from the station end & park in the nearby streets, I approach from the town end & park near where Port Vale is cut in half by evil bollards.
I cannot vouch for the beer as I drink only I.P.C. ( insipid pale coffee) but others seem to like it

I might even have seen it then, cause I remember driving in what I thought was the right way, and then I came across some bollards. And that was excactly what I thought. I ve told my mate about the ale from just round the corner as well. I am looking forward to that as well.
