29 Dec 04 - 03:01 PM (#1366923) Subject: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: Once Famous another conspiracy theory bites the dust. the Ohio recount is now officially over and only 300 votes were changed away from Bush leaving him winning by over 118,000. Oh well. You can keep hollaring about it, but no one is listening. |

29 Dec 04 - 03:44 PM (#1366962) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: gnu I understand. I must say that I am more than confused when I watch some US television where people seem to think that the fact that Garge is back in was due to people actually supporting some of "his" idiotic policies rather than the simple explanation... when the river is raging, you don't change horses in midstream. |

29 Dec 04 - 04:24 PM (#1366998) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: Big Al Whittle Possibly you take this sort of thing too seriously Martin. people get worked up, they want their man to win. Its a bit like cowboys and indians. I wish they still made films like that - Jeff Chandler in a loin cloth and Audie Murphy shootin people in the shoulder and hiding behind rocks. However I digress, don't read threads that upset you - everybody else is talking about Hull again and other diverting subjects. |

Sorry if that sounds arrogant or whatever, but it's just the way things are. I mean, seriously, if things weren't the way they are and that twit stood up and said he was going to do the things he's saying and doing, you Yanks would vote him out in a heartbeat... at least I hope you would. But, things are the way they are and he got voted back in. What other explanation is there ? |

30 Dec 04 - 05:18 AM (#1367458) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: Big Al Whittle Yes its the depth of Martin's upset which is a bit worrying, or entertaining - depending on your point of view. Let's hope Martin gets four years of whatever it is that makes him happy from Mr Bush and then perhaps we will see a sunnier personality, full of good humour, goodwill to all, bonhomie......a twinkling smile in every sentence that he writes. I can hardly wait. |

30 Dec 04 - 10:15 AM (#1367600) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: GUEST,Chris Maybe this ought to be a new thread: Martin appears (from his non-political posts) to be a working Chicago folksinger. (Jeez--I wonder if I know him. I'm assuming "Martin Gibson" to be a nom de board. Could he be someone I've actually sung with?) You could out yourself, Martin... Is it a fair assumption that most folkies are liberals? All the ones I have ever known personally have been. Brings to mind a Judy Collins quote from the 60s; "There's never been a really good Republican folksinger." Hyperbole, I expect, but would it be fun and instructive to explore the relationships between genres and political stances? |
|
30 Dec 04 - 10:24 AM (#1367607) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: Once Famous You never know, Chris. You just never know. Of course my name is from my favorite American guitar manufacturers. And I'm not a Republican. I voted for Barak. I'm an Independent folksinger and country singer. They get the most diverse audiencess to their performances. Aren't people from Wheaton just white, republican, and conservative? Assuming all folkies are liberals is about as narrow as assuming all country singers are rednecks. I am both and I am neither. I have been around for quite a while as a musician, though. Guest, how about some cheese with all of that whine? |

30 Dec 04 - 10:33 AM (#1367619) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: CStrong Well, there you go... I wasn't whining. I was wondering. I said "most," not all. I attributed Miss Collins' remark to hyperbole. (Note also that I didn't label you as a Republican." I have also been around for a while, and I know that all country singers aren't rednecks. I suspect many base their politics on marketing results. I was wondering about correlations and their causes. Please read me more carefully, and don't over-react. And who are you, really? |

31 Dec 04 - 05:54 PM (#1368478) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: Bobert What I want to know is how one recounts something that doesn't exist? Think Deibold here... Oh well? It was going to be either 4 more years of the old crook or 4 more years of a new one... Just 'cause Bush may be the crookier of the two doesn't matter.. What does matter is the complaciency that the US media has played in letting our election decided by rich computer/voter machine CEO's... Especially since "democracy" is the latest excuse for attacking Iraq??? Go figure? Maybe Diebold will show up there as well... Bobert |

01 Jan 05 - 11:58 AM (#1368746) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: GUEST,Frank Hi Carol, Auditthevote.org There are other links there. BTW, John Kerry is taking an active interest in this pending court case. If John Conyers can find a Senator that hasn't caved to the Neo-cons, the case will go forward. If not, after Jan. 6, it's all over and kiss goodbye to participatory democracy in this country. There will be a one party system left us (controlled by corporatocracy) and that is one facet that defines facism. Frank |

01 Jan 05 - 05:36 PM (#1368982) Subject: RE: BS: Ohio recount is over. From: Bobert The problem, CarolC, is that Kerry himself has bought into the media conspiracy... This is what I meant befor the election when I said that Kerry would have to win big, like 5% to have half a chance... Yes, based on exit polling, which have always been fairly accurate, I am sure that this election has been cleanly stolen. Wspecially since therre isn' t a sufficient paper trail to prove otherwise... I think the US maqy have seen it's last relatively uncorrupt federal election in 2000, and that one got stolen as well... But not to fear. Iraq is going to become democrastic or we'll kill 'um all...
