I hope the airport in Iceland is not damaged - I really look forward to meeting you in Portaferry.
Last year, it was raining almost all of the time - except for about half an hour of sunshine on Sunday morning (most participants awoke too late to notice it ;-))

hold on! i hope it doesn't trigger any volcanic action.
as for the snow, they don't call it ICE land for nothing...
keep warm and stay safe!

Skarpi, I just held a meeting with the staff here at the library about what we're going to do if we have to close.

There are three different weather fronts approaching the US, and they will join together in the middle of the country. We're not there, but two of them are going to affect us. The Weather Service is calling for several feet of snow in the mountains and "heavy snow" is possible here in the high valleys.

And we, like you, are in an area they call "seismically active" -- we can have earthquakes and even volcanic eruptions.

I hope that you have a great time in Portaferry!

Mother Earth seems to be restless..... maybe we should keep the noise down in Portaferry, and let her get some sleep....

NAH!!!!

(Seriously, hope all is well, I would imagine a flipped icefloe would be just as devastating as a tidal wave)

I must have thought of Eric - as on the first attempt I read the last word as "sheep" ;-)

Best of luck to all who are in the path of severe weather, damaging waves, and/or seismic activity.

P.S maybe it´s normal that we are having earthquakes after the big one In Indonesia , I mean one of the Island there moved 36 mtr so something
happent down there and the earth is turning a little faster
at the moment , by the way no one was hurt here in Iceland we have strong houses and we are nearly easy about this hmmmmmm .

It's so easy for those of us who live on the East Coast of the U.S. to forget about some of the cataclysms of nature and the havoc they wreak. Whatever happens, take good care of yourself, Skarpi, and have a good time in Portaferry.

It's worse for us here whose only experience of the earth moving is when they build a patio next door or walking over a wobbly bridge once!

We don't even have the experience to be complacent.

I have experienced an earthquake in Greece a few years back about 5.4 on the Richter scale-not so much up and down more side to side-thought I had had one too many beers at the time!.
