I ran across THIS MP3 SITE while on the Woodshed forum at STefan Grossman's workshop. Lots of old blues recordings available for free download.

In case the clickie does not work (I bat about .500 in such endeavors), here is the URL: http://www.publicdomain4u.com/

Nice stuff. Public domain? Mebbe in England, but I doubt if they are in the US.

Well I played a couple of them - good stuff - can they be saved? After they finished playing they seem to have left no trace on my machine. Surely if they have downloaded, they must still be there somewhere?

By going in on the link from dwditty, you can right click and download.

The other site - I can get to a page for a song, but then things just seem to hang...

By the way - the picture for the Hula Eyes is interesting, but I note that the girl is white skinned....

Right-clicked and downloaded the Broonzy to file. Started to play, and after a few beats, got a notice that I had to close- error. Clicked to send error message. Couldn't end task. Couldn't Crtl + Alt + delete. Had to turn off computer at box.
Tried all over again, and same problem. Not a site I will go to again.

tried looking for a single folder containing all the MP3s
to download them all in one go with flashget..
no luck..
either a protected anti leech folder..
or files stored in different locations..

bugger gonna have open each link one at a time

yup...what a pain to have to spend all of 4 seconds getting a file..*grin*...I suspect people with that kind of site have learned what can happen to bandwidth if 40 people with flashget or Go!zilla jump on all at once.

I downloaded 7-8 from dw's site earlier, and they all came just fine...Have not tried the other yet...

well...I decided to go try, and had NO trouble getting stuff from the site Susan posted, either...just right click and pick a folder....and I also got the Broonzy song Q mentioned.. No problems either way.

Oh I think it's all the same site, just different views, more genres than blues.

Some very nice stuff there. No trouble except for one missing file.
