23 Jan 05 - 08:39 PM (#1386604) Subject: RE: BS: Wishes and Dreams From: dianavan My dream is to live the winters in Mexico and the summers on a Canadian island and keep my place in Vancouver for between trips. For vacations, I would go to southern France or Spain. I am a big dreamer but so far, most of my dreams have come true so I'll just keep dreaming and dreaming. My wish is that nobody should go hungry and that all little children would be loved and cared for. |

24 Jan 05 - 02:23 PM (#1387267) Subject: RE: BS: Wishes and Dreams From: hesperis I wish to be healthy, I wish to have a home and belong somewhere, and I wish to earn a living through work I enjoy. I also wish to spend more time playing computer games, more time singing, and more time hanging out with friends. Pretty basic, eh? For those of you who have your wish... what was your wish? |

There were about ten very satisfying years when I was part-owner of a typesetting business, but we went bankrupt in the early 90s when our entire industry disappeared. Since then, it's been unemployment, underemployment, or underpaid employment, and it's been a chore to go to work every day. Like several others have already mentioned, the luxury I'd most enjoy if I had sudden access to lots of money (e.g., lottery winnings) would be TRAVEL. We'd continue to spend winters based here in New Orleans, but come summer (starting immediately after Jazz Festival) we'd relocate to Ireland, settling at my family's ancestral farmstead in County Mayo. We wouldn't sit tight very long at either "home base," but take plenty of trips, not only around the immediate area but also to points all over the globe. |

Once I have an apartment again I'll definitely have a spare couch for mudcatters!) As for my work wish, I wouldn't mind working next in hospitality part-time, especially in a small business environment. (Part-time so that it doesn't get too physically wearying, and I have time for my own businesses on the side. That way I'd actually enjoy it.) Now that Orillia and Toronto are both completely non-smoking, I just have to find a restaurant without potatoes! |
