OK.
I just got up to speed and programmed Horses Brawle and La Morresque into the Nokia, which covers folkies calling me, and Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (for Joy) but what tunes do catters recommend for the Friends, Business and Family categories?

They need to be mnemonic in some way. Folk tune for Folk, Joy for Joy. I did think for Friends of the "Neighbours" riff which makes it a bar of soap ................ (ducks and runs)

With a steady beat, hit your phone keys in the following order:

6 5 4 5 6 6 6 5 5 5 6 6 6 6 5 4 5 6 6 6 6 5 5 6 5 4 4 4

"Shoo Fly, Don't Bother Me" springs to mind.

Brucie,

I like that. I teach it to my beginning students with a slightly different style of numbering.

Re rings: I suggest "I've Got Sixpence" for telemarketers.

Just to let you know - HARMONY can create ring tones for NOKIA from abc (the old kind, which you have to enter from the keypad).

My old phone had a composer programme on it, where you could make up your own ringtones... I made it so it played 'Sorry the day I was married' whenever Manitas (my husband) phoned me.. .it took him a while to catch on....

One day I'll learn enough about this phone to dump the abysmal selection it has on it and download something decent instead...

At the moment, it's the 'Mexican Hat Dance', which is the best of a terribly bad bunch.

My suggestion is you cram yer cell-phone way up inside yerself, where it belongs...

When I was a kid the phone was on the kitchen wall... on a chord this || long... and we did just fine...

is it possible to get a phone to ring different
depending on who is calling? i never heard of
that....my phone is so old i do not think it is
capable of downloading anything new...but it
rings with Scott Joplin's Entertainer...ragtime.

also Auld Lang Syne

when i hear the mexican hat dance ring it
reminds of of being in mexico city where
car horns toot all sorts of melodies!

One of my daughter' is "How do you solve a problem like Maria",
My Main tone is the "Sound of Music"
(Yes we are Julie Andrews fans - I feel better for saying that in public)
The other daughter has "Any Dream will do"
- any Shellback has "Drunken Sailor" - of course.
Home is "Home Home on the Range"
and my friend who works at Nat West has "Young Banker".
Then you know who is ringing if you haven't got your glasses.
I love ringtones though it takes me some time to write them.
Is there a thread where the tunes are written.
I saw a book like that once but nobody bought me it for Christmas

It is possible to allocate a different tone to each person, check in your 'settings' or 'contacts' and see if it will allow you to edit tone. It's very useful if you want to screen calls and don't have a caller display.

The other day one of our customers had a phone with the beginning of the Torreador Song from the opera Carmen. It's the first ring tone I have really coveted.

My old phone only has 1 "tune" choice. The rest are just plain ordinary old ring tones. But since I don't turn it on to receive calls (I mostly hate phone calls unless they are from family) then it doesn't matter what the ring tone is because I only hear it once in a blue moon.
