"general hill is going to sea, ay boys oh ray boys" and not sure who sung it so not got much to go on i'm afraid. Cheers TasKiNG |

I think I have remembered the start to two more of the verses. What if we should meet the French? Hey boys oh ray boys What if we should meet the French? Oh ray boys and What if we the Turks should meet? Hey boys oh ray boys What if we the Turks should meet? Oh ray boys Cheers TasKiNG |

However, the original broadside "The Benjamin Lamentations," has been traced back to the 17th century. I'll have to re-check that thread but I thought I remembered an army version being mentioned. Interesting. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

It's the same vintage as "The Benjamin Lamentations" and does have a similar structure. Charley Noble |

" Sweet Peg of Derby", Which was recorded in 1973. However I'm buggered if I can remember where we got it from. I'll give it some thought. Chris Mordey (crint) Incidently there were 4 members of Saga. The one missing From your query of Jan '04 Was Roger warren. |
