The Folk for M.S. web site now contains information on how to reserve tickets for the 16th Folk for Multiple Sclerosis Charity Concert on the 11th June 2005.
The concert will in fact be the culmination of a day of folk which will include singarounds, sessions and dancing displays.
The afternoon's activities will be based around The Bell, in the main street of Grove, near Wantage, Oxfordshire.
For the evening the activity will be at Old Mill Hall, in Grove and will include a mind blowing CONCERT with:-

Les Barker and The Mrs. Ackroyd Band, Artisan and Quick Silver.

(A respiratory nurse will be on hand in case Hillary is in need!)

Camping is available for those wishing to stay over and make a day of it.
Tickets and camping, if required, can be reserved by e-mail to;-

Tickets@folkforms.org

or by phone to 01923 672590
All the best,

Although I live in Northern Ireland and would not be able to get to this eventI hope it is a resounding success; it is particularly poignant as I have just read of the death of someone who I knew as a young man about 25 years ago in our local camera club, who developed multiple sclerosis. The death notice said he dies peacefully so I suspect MS was the cause. It is certainly sad, but I see that he leaves a wife and child, which he must have fathered after developing the disease. His family life, and, I imagine, his strong religious convictions, will I hope have helped bring him comfort through the long years of declining health.

Another person who I went to school and whose father eventually died from the disease sadly also developed it in his 20s and was dead within 10 years.

Does anyone know of anyone in the folk music field who suffers or suffered from MS? I can remember that the British (?Scottish) pop music DJ Stuart Henry developed it many years ago; though I never heard of him dying I would be surprised if he was still alive.

Truly a very frightening disease just as worthy of attention as AIDS.

Most people know that I have M.S., which is one of the reasons Folk for M.S. got started.
In my case, however, the syptoms are comparitively mild and are only developing slowly, I'm just glad to be able to help those more severly afflicted with the disease.

(Tickets for 11th june are begining to sell quickly, don't miss out!)

All the best,

Hovering Bob
