Guy Clark and Jerry Jeff Walker, who else would I be likely to hear that would have written tunes I would be interested in doing? Thanks for any direction. Mike

Guy Clark thinks the world of Buddy Mondlock.

Speaking of "Buddy" there's also Miller.

Joe Ely ? More on the rock side than a folkie to my ears. He's also one of "The Flatlanders" along with Butch Hancock.

Ray Wilie Hubbard ?

One of my favorite CDs is Townes, Guy Clark, and Steve Earle live at the Bluebird Cafe. They take turns singing...all on stage at once, telling stories between the songs. A show I would have really liked to have witnessed.

Many people have mentioned Guy Clark - one of Townes's best friends. One name that hasn't yet been mentioned is Eric Taylor, a very talented and very intense songwriter from Houston. Some of Eric's songs have been recorded by Nanci Griffith, with whom he used to be married, but you can't beat his solo albums. If you can get ahold of his early album Featherbed, you should - but his new ones are almost as good.

Several of Townes's songs are in the Digital Tradition - I know, 'cause I put them there.
