BS: Go Pats !!!

Not one thread for the greatest show on earth. And it is The Show. The Yanks know how to put on a show. The pre-show is four hours long. And the pre-pre-shows stared last week. I've been a fan of the New England Patriots since before Grogan broke his first bone. Just a natural thing since The Maritimes and New England have such a long, entwined history.

Anyway, the Superbowl is just hours away. The ultimate sport. Involving equal amounts of physical prowess, mental accuity, honed athletic skills, opponent analysis, varying strategies for field position and time management, adaptability, sheer heart and will, and so many other factors that many spend their whole lives as mere students of the game. There is no other sport that involves the fans the way American football does. It is as much chess and finesse as it is smash-mouth.

Are you ready to party !?

I sit with bated breath hoping my Patriots can do it again.

My wife, Pat, and her cousin, Pat, thank you.

I'm going over to a friend's house to sip wine, eat some cheese, turn off the sound, converse intelligently about things of import, and watch for a wardrobe malfunction.

The munchie section of the local food store was looking pretty empty earlier today. I probably won't watch, but Rap, who's in the halftime show this year? I don't really feel deprived about having missed Janet Jackson's breast last year, but I would want to miss a good trouser dropping.

I should be more Pats-triotic, seeing as they're the 'local' team, but I'm not.

I dunno. I heard that the half-time show was Pat Boone, behind a steel door.

And it's "on track" with the Mudcat, so to speak. Sir "Paul" is on next. Imagine, an English icon, nay, para-noble, yet, is cashing in on the greatest show on earth. As for wardrobe malfunctions, this year, it will only be the Eagles going tits up.

The Eagles are playing the half-time show? I thought they'd disbanded, but then, I don't follow rock much.

The pre show has just started on tv over here, I can't wait for the game to start and just hope that the Pats make it 3 times in 4 years and that the Eagles don't fly off with the trophy.

GO PATS GO

Sir Paul was cool. Sang with TB... brave heart. Now, we get Bush Senior and Billybob Clinton. Talk about just good old folk. Raisin even more $$$ ($500M to date) money today for the tsunami victims.

I almost fell asleep, it was so boring. So I came over here to my computer, and, as it always happens, apparently the game got exciting, judging from the wild cheering I heard on the TV. I just can't stand sitting through 5 minutes of commercials just to see 10 seconds of game followed by 2 minutes of someone explaining what I just saw, in case I happen to be really stupid.

The commercials haven't been to good either. After compaints about the horse flatulence commercial from last year, they've toned things down.

I have nothing against the Eagles, but their fans are something else. The TV news out of Philly has been loaded with the most obnoxious Eagles fans being interviewed. I'm surpised these people can even talk. (there have to be normal Eagles fans, but they apparently don't appear avid enough to be interviewed.)

When I see someone with lots of Eagles apparel, or Eagles bumper stickers on his car, my first thought is: If I don't write this guy a summons, it's because I'll be arresting him instead. The Eagles are the only team I know of where there's a need for a permanent court in session in the stadium during home games. (Really).

A win for the Eagles will only encourage the fans to be worse than they already are. The Patriots probably have fans that are just as bad, but they're far enough away that it won't bother me.

Game over and the Pats have done it again.
Roll on next year and lets see if the Pats can do it again and maybe win by more than three points.
Tough luck on the Eagles, they just weren't quite good enough.

Just glad it's all over. No wardrobe malfunctions (dammit) but several very good plays on both sides. Now, can we carry on with Life As We Know It?

I found the game less than riveting, but was glad the Patriots won. I thought the much-touted commercials were total duds.
