I learned this great African tune in North Carolina last summer, but cannot find anything about it. The APPROXIMATE words are "Zami Nami na wa oh, waka waka a eh yeah" and the chorus is "Jongo, Jongo."

Anyone have a clue? T'would be much appreciated.

thx,

"Jongo" is a South American composition, by Bellinati. Jongo
It does have African influences, but mixed with native American and European roots.

Our bus of thirty-seven riders belts out this Liberian war chant in the Bassa language – just one of the rhythms and lyrics that freedom riders from all over the world shared with each other.

This site has more information. Other African influences than Angolan contribute; Bantu perhaps a better word. Jongo
Many others on google, including one that gives the basic 6/8 pattern.

Where can I get the melody for the Jongo song? I really want to know if the one you sing is the same as the one I sing.

Thanks so much for your help.
