The Web site isn't "up and running" 8-) for this year yet, but looking at it will give you an idea. We want to put a scratch band together for the ceilidh on the Saturday night... anyone up for that? Let me know.

As far as the band for the ceilidh is concerned, I'll play in it with pleasure and a melodeon. I believe we have a caller(?Sally).   It looks like we have a mandolier (is that what a mandolinist is called?) so we could do with two or three more - p'raps guitar, fiddle, 'tina?   If we had a few more we could take turns and have a bit of a bop as well.    Do I have any support in NOT wanting a drummer or any amplification?

Hi folks. I'm sure Geoff (webfolk) would be up for some guitar and 'zook work in the scratch band. No amplification or drummers is fine by me, but you may want to take a listen to Geoff's new toy; a Peruvian Cajon. Looks like a box, sounds like a very subtle drumkit. Do you still want session drivers? If so Geoff and I are up for that. Now; back to helping the police find the bastards who stole my caravan this week...

As for Mando and Webfolk running a sesh, yes please.

What about AlanWW playing in the band? I'll pm him.

Thanks Schantie... keep plugging. 8-)

There's a story telling and poetry extravaganza in The 3 Tuns on Friday 10th June being hosted by Teri and Mike Greene of The Winged Word. we have provisionally booked both Sally Tonge and Brian Carrington (Daylevel) who together perform a complement of story and song of local myths and legend. They will provide entertainment for all the family, encouraging audience participation

To complete the evening we are engaging other local storytellers for shorter performances in order to enhance diversity. The evening promises to be both entertaining and good value for money.

Regarding our storytelling evening at Three Tuns on June 10th we have booked both Sally Tonge and Brian Carrington (Daylevel) who together perform a complement of story and song of local myths and legend. They will provide entertainment for all the family, encouraging audience participation. We've also got some local up and coming story telling bods to mesmerise you with stories of Shropshire and our surrounding area.

We thought it would be more relaxing to take tired folkies and their kids to stories and poetry for the Friday evening after a hard day at school/work and driving/ tent erecting etc, rather that swirling about at a ceilidh. That's for the Saturday night.

Sounds a bit "modern" to me. These sort of things seem to go down well:

Bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover, Goodbye Dolly Gray, Tipperary, Bicycle Made for Two, Lili Marleen, When I'm Cleaning Windows, My Grandfather's Clock, Chattanooga Choo-choo, Sonny Boy, You Are My Sunshine, Show Me The Way To Go Home, If You Were The Only Girl In The World, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, There'll Always Be An England, etc etc

Does anyone do monologues/recitations - the Lion And Albert, Sam Pick Up Thy Musket etc?

If you guys can come up with stuff like that for our elders, they'll be so happy! I'm really looking forward to that show.

Sal,

I don't travel too well at the moment (crook again!) so Mick and I will probably go down just for the Saturday. What's the parking like? I have a disabled badge.

Also, can we bring your Yorkshire Terrorist. He's well behaved - well, he loves people at any rate.

It will be his first festival.

So far I've found two good reasons not to go!

Stewart and I will be there, looking forward to meeting up with friends old and young new and sampling a few of the local ales.

S will be bringing a bottle of locally brewed perry (8%) for Lynne, and a good port will be available for the refreshment of My guru :0)

Erm, as your posting followed mine - is this personal to Mick or myself?

Perhaps you would have the courage to identify yourself!

Alan, I was not laying claim to all or any of the songs I mentioned, just using them as examples of the sort of thing I have found goes down well. (And plenty of London songs- Don't Dilly Dally, Bull & Bush, Any Old Iron, etc)

Less than a week now: the excitement is mounting

It was a wonderful W/e. Best bits for me? Schantieman's and my half hour spot at the folk club, singing with Schantieman and Pete Grassby (in the interval) at the wonderful ceilidh where Steve gathered a great scratch band together and a brill evening was had by all.

The Poppy House singarounds went really well.

The vaults irish session didn't happen, but the Tuns session worked well.

The 6 Bells sing went well (inside and out... Bit on the Side!) due to being expertly driven. We carried on till midnight on Sunday!

The stewards did a wonderful job as did my campsite managers. No local people came so far as I know. Must be something I said!

Oh and on Monday morning I had to go to hospital for an xray on my foot and it appears I have gout!!!

Sal, I spent most of Saturday evening in the front bar of the Tunns singing with local people.
