Tech: MSN Games with Mozilla Firefox

Any ideas why the MSN games using Java/Macromedia Flash won't load and play with Mozilla Firefox? They seem to load, but the game never comes up.

MSN uses an adulterated Java command set so some Jave interpreters won't respond correctly, is my guess.

There was a bunfight a while ago about MS & Java - MSIE now won;t automatically use Java - mine has had the real one downloaded, but MSIE doesnt seem to want to play with it, even though I followed all the instructions...

unless space is at a premium, there's no reason not to have 3-4 browsers for special use. I have 5, I think.

I never tried to UNinstall I.E.--it just sits there in the corner, unloved, waiting for that VERY rare call.

eWeek: Browser Bugs Spare Internet Explorer for a Change gives some info on 4 vulnerabilities affecting:
Most Mozilla-based browsers (Firefox 1.0, Camino .8.5, Mozilla 1.6, etc.)
Safari 1.2.5
Opera 7.54
OmniWeb 5
(but not IE).

It's probably a virus.

(Just jokin' with you, of course.)

Sorcha, I found this statement:

When selecting the file types you want Quicktime to handle under "Mime Settings", make sure that "Flash File", under miscellaneous, is not enabled. This will cause a conflict with the Macromedia Flash Plug-in and flash files will more than likely cease to play.

here.

I've been having some problems myself trying to get all the bells and whistles using Firefox. It seems that Micro$oft makes it difficult to use other things with Windows. Also, that QW@#$%^&P) RealPlayer really messes up other things.

My favorite piano midi files had to have Crescendo in order to hear them. I don't know what I'll do about that. I think I found an old version of Crescendo that can still be used.

if you want to do everything that RealPlayer can do, without the hassles, use JetAudio and Real Alternative.
