... upon waking in the morning ????

personally I have conditioned myself to no longer think, instead I try to establish a positive mode from the get go. This is proving to be somewhat successful regardless of may follow.

That too. But if I don't go first I can't concentrate on the rest. God must know and understand because it has happened everyday like that for years.

First I determine what day of the week it is.

Sometimes the answer to something that has been puzzling me pops into my mind. It's a wonderful side-effect of sleep and dreams.

Glad it works that way for you, Cluin; if I wake up that way, it's kind of a no-win thing; the sex doesn't work out at all until after I take a wizz, but sometimes I about hafta hang a cold wet washrag on the damn thing to get it down so I can take a wizz.

why have i been so blessed with continuing existence
when throughout history so many more magnificent people than me
have been so cruelly snuffed out
by the whims of evil ruthless monsters

fucked if i know..

wish i had an inherited pension and private health care
to make the threatened possibility of old age in the mid 21st century
more appealing

I think, "Sheesh. What time is it?" I look around blearily, and try to figure it out by the light conditions outside. I fumble around vaguely for the clock. It falls on the floor. Then I realize that I have to pee.

Previously - I haven't got the energy to even move today.

Today - go take medication for chest infection. Having done so, the syrup is sooo sickly, I'm experiencing a sugar high, sitting here trembling!

It's either "what the hell is Kendall doing waking me up to tell me he's hungry?" (which he did in our motel room this morning by throwing back the curtains and letting the light in) or "is he awake enough for a cuddle yet".

The other one is " can I slide out of bed without disturbing the sleeping bear".

Still in the honeymoon stage I guess.

First thing I think of?
usually
"AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH I'm LATE!!!" followed by a stream of expletives. The joys of being young.

"Is it MY turn to go bring coffee (for me) and tea (for her) back to be drunk in bed, or is it my Beautiful Wife's turn?"

The pee business takes no thinking at all.

HItting the snooze button.

If it's a natural (non-alarm driven) wake-up, then it's a weekend, and I think about rolling over and going back to sleep, which I then do.

Parents never get enough sleep, but I'm still catching up on college, I think!

Now I know why brucie's on the fire brigade.

This morning, the first thing I thought of was "What the...? Why isn't the beeper as loud as usual? And where the **** is it? Goddamn, it's under the bed and I have to stand on my head to get at the ****in' thing!"

Well, you DO wake up when you do that....

Down at the nursing home, three old men were discussing the problems of ageing.
"Seventy is the worst age to be," said the 70 year-old. "You always feel like you have to pee and most of the time, you stand at the toilet and nothing happens."
"Count your blessings, kid," said the 80 year-old. "When you're eighty, you can't even crap right anymore. You take laxatives, eat bran, you sit on the toilet all day and nothing moves when it's supposed to!"
"Actually, just you young fellers wait!" said the 90 year-old, "Ninety is the worst age of all."
"Why? Do you have trouble peeing too?" asked the 70 year-old.
"No, not really. I pee every morning at 7:00. I piss like a racehorse... no problem there at all." admitted the 90 year-old.
"So you have trouble shitting then?" asked the 80 year-old.
"No, no problem in that department either... I have a nice relaxing bowel movement every morning at 7:30." the oldest man responded.
"So what's so damn much worse about being ninety then?"
"Well, I don't wake up until 8."
