I am going to be doing a spot at Breezy's folk club on the weekend of 23/24 and will be looking for dates in the days either preceding or following that. I may even be able to come with my harmony trio, Alan's Abits. Markus and Thomas are nice men and fine singers and players. I am interested in chances to showcase what I do. I play acoustic guitar and sing songs in different styles. There is always a fair bit of singalong and humour in my set. It is a long way from Germany, so I would like to be able to recover some of my expenses, but obviously, I do not expect to immediately pick up paid work at the level which I have done over here. The attraction is more to be able to do what I love and to sing in English to an audience which can understand everything I do. Unfortunatley, the only one of you to see me at work so far has been MC Fat, back last autumn. The gig went well, but he was probably baffled by some of it, as I was working in German! I would be interested in showcasing at folk clubs, but by no means does it have to be a folk club. Anywhere where I have a reasonable chance of getting my music across is interesting for me (and the Abits). Please PM me or offer any information or advice you have to this thread. I would surely seek this fellow out! I do have to disagree with the above review in part. I love his voice, delight in his lyrics & believe him to be a bit more than a "mediocre guitarist". But I have no doubt as to the truth of the last sentence quoted above! ken |

MudGuard can vouch that shiese meine Deutsche ist but if you don't mind cats, you're more than welcome. We're convienient for Stratford station (direct bus link from Stanstead Airport), the London Underground tube system, access to the M25 London Orbital motorway (if you drive), City airport and some major London bus routes. We might even arrange a traditional pub session - there's a 41st birthday to celebrate on the 14th.... I can wait a week or so! LTS |

Going in "cold" to most festival organisers, without an introduction, is more likely to put their backs up than to secure a gig. Whereas I have a bit of form in Germany, I can't really see myself getting taken seriously for festivals in the UK. Maybe one or two might give me a try out on an open stage though. I have had another offer of a gig since I posted last night. That would be a village hall affair, which sounds like a lot of fun. I am grateful for all suggestions. |

If things continue to improve this year, a short trip to the New York/New England area might be in sight. I would really love to get out to the West Coast to meet people like yourself, Joe Offer and Amos - not to mention the estimable Seattle contingent - let alone khandu in Mississippi. That looks like it's a little bit further over the horizon though! It is three years since I even visited my own country. Now I had better get back to work on my translation so I can pay the rent next month! |

I am doing Don T's club in Maidstone on September 22, The RM Tavern in Eastney on Fri, Sept 23, The Village Hall in Silsoe on Saturday 24 and Breezy's club at St.Albans on Sunday 25. Markus is certainly going to be with me and we are hoping to have our guitarist/most other strings instrumentalist, Thomas with us. He is the really talented one, so we are keeping our fingers crossed! We are not sure yet whether we will go West or North after meeting Breezy and George at St.Albans. I would like to hear from anyoone with any bright ideas though. Boy am I looking forward to September! |

This time, I will not be attempting to drive into London. We have no gigs there or anywhere north of Hertfordshire. We hope to correct this on a subsequent visit. I do not know London well enough to drive safely there and I would only be a danger to myself (and other drivers). I must drive, as I am bringing a PA. The nearest gigs to London are at St.Albans on the 25th of September and in Silsoe, on the previous evening. Some of you come from the Pompey area, so you might be able to make it to the RMA Tavern gig in Eastney on Friday, 23rd. We will be playing in Maidstone on September, 26th, probably at The Pilot. I will be playing with Markus Apitius, who produced both of my albums Small Voice Crying and Travellers' Tales. He sings like an angel (which no one has ever accused me of doing!) and plays guitar, bass and piano well. It should be a fun evening.
