BS: My son is now on his way to Canada

He flew out this morning, Sydney time.....gets to Vanvouver at 9-ish tomorrow morning. Says he will be gone for about a year or so.

So.....if any of you Canadians meet a short bearded smiling 26YO warped sense of humoured Aussie named Doug Richards....that's my boy!

Cheers

When he gets here, I need him to visit me, sit and watch the computer, and WITNESS that I am not Martin Gibson!

And I know that that was really Bobert, wasn't it? He's pretending to be DougR again. Fer sure, eh? :-)

There is only one of each, and some days I thnk God for that, despite loving them both dearly.

Vancouver is not in Ontario. Someone'd have to be REALLY hawkeyed to see over them mountains way in the distance and find one person.

Anyway, I hope he has a wonderful trip! If he ends up in Ontario at any point there are a ton of 'catters here.

Well he's always welcome on the the Island. Advise him to make a short ferry trip when he arrives in Vancouver and look us up.

Jennie - I'm not sure if he has a job in Van. or what but at his age I would take Metchosin's advice and head straight for the islands. If he is up for an adventure, there are many islands to explore and they really are the best of B.C.

Hi Jennie. I can imagine you'd be feeling quite a loss at the thought of him going for so long. It's hard enough when they fly out of the nest, but even harder when they go somewhere where you know you won't see them for a while.

I know freda has also gone through the same thing recently with a daughter going to live in Austria. I went through it with Sam some years back when she went to the UK on a working holiday. But what can you do? They have to do their own thing, and life goes on.

Anyway, you volunteering at the National again this year? If so, we'll see you there, if not sooner. I'm going to the Dog next week - not going to Cobargo. Catch up soon.

Jenny

I know we will miss Doug, even though he moved out nearly 18 months ago he was only 15 minutes away. But this is a trip he has wanted to make for ages, and Canada has been a place he has always wanted to go to. We have already received the "I'm here" email.
Metchosin, I will pass on the message to take the ferry, in the email we received this morning he said he was going to have a look around Vancouver. Is there a particular ferry he should take, and how will he find you?
DougR - I bet both you and my Doug R are unique in your own ways!

Jenny, you will see me at the Dog next week and I am volunteering again at the National, in the office again. I am working extra days at work to have more days off at Easter - one more day to go!

Cheers

JennieG, PM me and I will give you the particulars on reaching us.

We're on Vancouver Island, the largest and some distance out of Victoria. There are a couple of ferries to"the Island" but Tswassen-Swartz Bay is the main one to the south end. There are a lot of other islands too, as Dianavan mentioned.

No confusion - this "Doug R" is clearly spaced out, whereas our "DougR" is much more uptight...
