19 Feb 05 - 12:55 AM (#1414633) Subject: RE: BS: Martin Gibson=Little Hawk From: Little Hawk That would be truly astounding. Even I wouldn't believe it. Look, Martin is unusual, granted, but he's not quite unusual enough to be one of my fictional characters. At least I don't think so. Man, Bobert, you have got me worried, though. I am going to have to put a spycam on my computer in the off-hours and make sure there's no truth in this idea you've come up with. I used to be afraid that maybe I was Spaw! You can imagine how uneasy I became at the thought. What made me wonder was, the more I posted...as time went by...the less he did. It was very unsettling. 19 Feb 05 - 12:57 AM (#1414635) Subject: RE: BS: Martin Gibson=Little Hawk From: Peace Well, there might be some truth to it, IMO. Little Hawk--many moons ago--said that Chicago hotdogs were great, thus avoiding saying that Montreal steamies were better. Bobert, ya got me wondering now. |

19 Feb 05 - 07:11 PM (#1415231) Subject: RE: BS: Martin Gibson=Little Hawk From: GUEST,William Shatner I can attest to the fact that Little Hawk is not me. Nor is Donuel. Little Hawk is merely a man who appreciates the finer points of the performing arts. Donuel is a man in the grip of some rare dementia. I only drop in occasionally to this forum, because I want to keep my audience hungry for more. Always remember this. Overexposure can kill any career eventually. Look what happened to Bruce Springsteen. Now if he had listened to me and collaborated with me on an album, I could have revitalized his career in the 90's, but nooo...he thought he knew better. Well, now he's a hasbeen, whereas I am a household word. I turn down job offers constantly. I did a version of "Candy's Room" that took the song to a whole new level. They begged me to release it. 20 Feb 05 - 11:27 AM (#1415609) Subject: RE: BS: Martin Gibson=Little Hawk From: Azizi Nigel, It was Ender's Game. That was one of the main sub-plots of the book. Ender's older brother and older sister made up these two characters who publicly debate online with each other. The older brother was actually the evilier master mind, but he convinced the sister to take on this far more negative persona while his public role appeared to be more reasonable. Over time, each of these two made up personas gathered alot of followers to their respective sides as they gained power and influenced the minds of all who read them - Kind of like Martin Gibson and Little Hawk... But in Ender's Game the two siblings WERE separate beings. Maybe MG and LH are two separate people. But how do we know that we really know what they believe? There might have done a belief switcheroo on us for reasons that only they know. Maybe this is more like Ender's Game then I thought. I'm really scared now. |

Oh yes... some of the best ones are in Canada (except for my hubby who is now here in the US with me). Plus, as a part of Canada's plan for world domination, phase two, the "fetchin up the womenfolk" part, they're actively recruiting women to marry Canadian men. |

20 Feb 05 - 03:09 PM (#1415731) Subject: RE: BS: Martin Gibson=Little Hawk From: Once Famous Uh, Hi all. Been off the computer extremely busy at work and with music the last few days. Couldn't wait to open this thread when I say it. OK, I admit it. I'm really The Shambles. Now that had to get some reaction. Well, I am not Little Hawk, because Little Hawky and I sometimes PM each other, and I'm not really into talking to myself. And I'm not Canadian and have no idea how to convert litres into gallons. And after last being in Canada a number of years ago, I am still tring to figure out what patisierie (or however you spell it is). I am true blue Chicago, roots going back here to the late 1880s and I would never, ever want to live anywhere else. So, I can now tell you that I think Bobert, who lives I believe in Washington DC, is a far left Democratic, likes to drink, is really Ted Kennedy. It's just so obvious. |

23 Feb 05 - 11:54 PM (#1419235) Subject: RE: BS: Martin Gibson=Little Hawk From: catspaw49 Ridiculous thread. Completely without merit. Hawk has proven over the years to have a variety of personas but they are all quite transparent and pale in comparison to the real thing. Hawk himself is an interesting blend of pure logic mixed with wild flights of fantasy and gut level emotion. A closet realist who must refuse and refute that dark side of hinself but cannot sway his inner being to take the final step. Hence he wears contradiction like a habit and in that contradiction we can see the softness and caring of the true humane being which he is. Martin Gibson simply appears to be yet another asshole much like we can all find deep down........Deep down not within ourselves of course, but certainly within the dickhead standing next to us. 18 Jun 05 - 01:29 PM (#1503708) Subject: RE: BS: Martin Gibson=Little Hawk From: JohnInKansas Having not looked in on this thread previously, and given the subject matter and the very special self-selection of participants, I very nearly did not notice that continuity was somewhat amiss. Numbering the posts as shown in the "header list," and sorting by the date/time shown there for each posting, the sequence in which individual postings appeared – as listed for my most recent opening of this thread - is: 6 – 8, 1, 9 – 15, 19, 16 – 18, 20, 25, 21, 26 – 29, 22 – 23, 30, 24, 2 – 5, 32, 42 -43, 36, 44, 33 – 35, 37 – 41, 45 – 50, 31, 54 – 55, 51 – 53, 58, 56 – 57, 60, 59, 61, 65, 62, 66, 63, 67, 68, 71, 73 – 75, 79, 76 – 77, 80 – 81, 84 – 85, 72, 86 – 87, 78, 82, 88 – 89, 83, 90 – 92, 94, 95, 64, 69 – 70, 96, 93, 97 – 103, 105, 104, 106, 108, 107, 109 -118, 120 -130, 119, 133 – 134, 131 – 132, 135 – 139 As the "earliest" posts (#6, by Little Hawk and #7 by Bee-dubya-ell) make reference to a previous comment apparently by Bobert, the original "first post" appears to be missing. It obviously is not reasonable – based solely on comments in the posts – to state with certainty whether additional individual posts may have been lost. This is entirely of academic interest, as those who've "been here" will likely remember what was in earlier posts, and "new" posters hardly ever read more than the last 1.3 posts before entering their own comments (an untested, but believed reliable observation). I'd go back and read the thread in order, but I don't think I really want to know... John |

19 Jun 05 - 05:56 AM (#1504164) Subject: RE: BS: Martin Gibson=Little Hawk From: JohnInKansas I've posted some other comment at BS: Forum postings are OUT OF ORDER Date: 19 Jun 05 - 04:07 AM and the subsequent (3 posts later) 19 Jun 05 - 05:38 AM. A quick sort on the first 20 threads at the top a bit ago showed 5 of the 20 out of order. Longer (more posts) threads seem most affected. If you check the list of posts at the top of each thread page, it's pretty easy to spot the "next nearest" when something doesn't make sense. For most 'cat threads, the post order isn't too critical to as much understanding as we're likely to get. There do seem to be some missing posts, and I don't have much of a way to look at whether there are enough of them to be significant. And even after sorting, I can't make enough sense of this thread to guess who "deep funk" might have been. John |
