G'day AJS,

Maybe you should PM Crazy Yankee ... I seem to remember he reckoned he had arrangement rights to the song that ended up on the B side of the single of Goodness Gracious Me ... so when he returned to USA from his forces stint (OK ... he moonlighted a little in the music scene ...) they had to pay to repatriate his personal car ... a Rolls Royce bought with the royalties ... second hand ... but a real Roller!

Regard(les)s,

Bob

GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME - Peter Sellers and Sohia Loren (Kretzmer/Lee)

(she) O Doctor, I'm in trouble
(he) Well, goodness gracious me.
(she) for every time a certain man
      is standing next to me.
(he) mmm?
(she) a flush comes to my face
and my pulse begins to race
      it goes boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boom-de-boom.
(he) ohhh?
)she) boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
(he) Well, goodness gracious me.

(he) How often does this happen,
      when did the trouble start?
You see, my stethoscope is bobbing
to the throbbing of your heart.
(she) What kind of man is he
      to create this allergy?
      it goes boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boom-de-boom.
(he) ohhh?
)she) boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
(he) Well, goodness gracious me.

(he) From New Delhi to Darjeeling
I have done my share of healing
and I've never yet been beaten
      or outboxed(?)
I remember that with one jab
of my needle in the Punjab
how I cleared up Berri Berri
      and the dreaded dysentary
but your complaint has got me
      really poxed(?).

(she) Oh Doctor, touch my fingers
(he) well, goodness gracious me.
(she) you may be very clever
      but, however, can't you see.
My heart beats much too much
      at a certain tender touch
      it goes boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boom-de-boom.
(he) ohhh?
(she) boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
(he) Well, goodness gracious me.

Spoken
(he) Can I see your tongue; nothing the matter with it; put it away, please.
(she) Maybe it's my back?
(he) Maybe it is.
(She) Shall I lie down?
(he) Ahhhh!

(he) My initial diagnosis
      rules out measles and thrombosis,
      sleeping sickness and as far
      as I can tell,
      influenza, inflammation
      whooping cough and night starvation
and you'll be so glad to hear
that both your eyeballs are so clear
      that I can positively swear
      that you are well.

(she) Put two and two together,
if you have eyes to see,
the face that makes my pulses race
is right in front of me.
(he) Oh there's nothing I can do
for my heart is jumping too
      it goes
(together) boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boom-de-boom.
      boom-boody-boom
      boody-boom-boody-boom

(she) goodness gracious
(he) how audacious
(she) goodness gracious
(he) how flirtatious
(she) goodness gracious
(he) it is me.
(she) It is you?
(he) ah sorry, it is I!
She) ahhhhh.

Was this song in a Sellers/Loren movie?

Yes, it was in a 1960 movie, "The Millionairess". Put that into Google and you will find plenty. While looking myself for more about the song in the movie, I came across a little gem of a site, which has Peter Sellers sound clips - here. You can listen to "Goodness Gracious Me" in its entirety, as well as some other interesting things.
