02 Dec 98 - 03:36 PM (#47676) Subject: Mudcat Forum - the book From: Felipa Seems to me there's plenty of material which could be edited into a book of 'best' excerpts from the forum - thread on Spancil Hill, discussions on folk music, discussions on other topics that came up inspired by song quests (RUC thread - N Irish 'troubles', travellers rights - Travelling People thread), playing with words as in "Billy the Squid". It would be readable but I don't know about marketing - through the web and folk magazines and festivals? |

05 Dec 98 - 09:35 AM (#48106) Subject: RE: Mudcat Forum - the book From: Big Mick I was thinking Julia Roberts for Alison, and Susan Sarandon for Blessings Barbara. Liam Neeson for Mick Bracken, Colm Meaney for Frank McGrath. The voice of God for Dick, and a Marian apparition for Susan. Max will have to be portrayed by the Wizard of Oz. I am nominating Mel Gibson to play Alan of Australia. Northfolk will have to be portrayed by the Marlboro Man from X files. Don't worry, Mick Lowe, I am working on someone for you, too!! And all the rest, as well. All the best, Mick |
05 Dec 98 - 09:44 AM (#48107) Subject: RE: Mudcat Forum - the book From: Big Mick What an bloody eejit I am. Scratch Susan Sarandon for Barbara. Meryl Streep must play her. It is a natural. Sarandon should play Alice in Montana. Harpgirl should definitely be played by Drew Barrymore. Roger in Baltimore........Hmmmmmm. I will have to think on this for a bit. Liam's Brother.....? Gargoyle.....easy, Alan Rickman. All the best, Mick |
05 Dec 98 - 10:11 AM (#48113) Subject: RE: Mudcat Forum - the book From: Big Mick Bseed must be played by Kevin Costner!!!! My brain is working feverishly on the rest of you. Mick |
05 Dec 98 - 04:13 PM (#48160) Subject: RE: Mudcat Forum - the book From: BSeed Kevin Costner is much too young for me, Mick, although he, too, is known for disastrous misjudgments. My son, one of my former students, and a stranger on a train in Japan all said I look like Sean Connery, but I wouldn't presume...for Gargoyle, I'd suggest Charlton Heston--who else would be believable speaking for God? Too bad Capra is dead: he'd be my choice for director. --seed |

06 Dec 98 - 03:24 PM (#48302) Subject: RE: Mudcat Forum - the book From: Art Thieme I wanna play Big Mick! Can I, can I??? (Harrison Ford is way too little to play Mick.) And Harp MUST be played by Michele Pfeiffer--the way she looked in _Ladyhawk_! (NEW NAME: LADYHARP !) I can see it now: BIG MICK swatting away planes from the top o' the Empire State Building with a Seeger long-neck banjo. Seed would be played by Gollum from J.R.R. Tolkien. Alice would be played by Calamity Jane. Dan Keding would be played by Georgi Murasson(spelling?)the pro basketball giant! Max? Wizard of Oz is too tame. How about Mel Lyman surrounded by angels playing bluesharps ? The new brand called the Harmonica Lewinsky! (Some folks who have tried 'em say they suck.) |
06 Dec 98 - 07:56 PM (#48331) Subject: RE: Mudcat Forum - the book From: harpgirl way cool guys...I am more the Drew Barrymore type than Michelle Pfieffer! I was thinking Gerard DePardue for Big Mick...Jessica Lange for Alice...Richard Dreyfuss for Roger...Brad Pitt for Barry....mtc...ladyharp |

06 Dec 98 - 10:12 PM (#48348) Subject: RE: Mudcat Forum - the book From: Roger in Baltimore Richard Dreyfuss, eh? Yes, that's the ticket. Thank you, Harp Girl. If this truly is virtual, my friends would probably say Burl Ives, folk singer and actor. It is interesting how this thread moved quickly from the book to the movie. Just like in real life. Roger in Baltimore |
07 Dec 98 - 12:26 AM (#48363) Subject: RE: Mudcat Forum - the book From: John in Brisbane The theme music is a lay down misere - Wild Rover No More - of course. And to avoid any disputation about folk instrumentation it must be played on a Hammond organ.
But forgetting the arty side of this movie SERIES, the more serious part surrounds financing the whole operation.

Dan K. and I were discussing a plot: Whether or not it's possible for someone to become pregnant in cyberspace---and all the drama that goes down when someone actually does. Also, how does one practice safe sex in cyberspace... And the resultant sperm mutations from being beamed through cyberspace produce, for the FIST TIME EVER, a female offspring who, years later, falls hysterically head-over-heels in love with a male nitwith solely because of his huge breasts---something that happens all the time when it's the other way around!!!
