Tech: BATTERY PAs, keys/voc/guitar which one??

Hello everyone,

Can you please help. I am confused by the different portable battery operated PA systems. I am fussy about sound quality and need a compact system for very small venues, up to 60 or busking. Trouble is it has to have 3 inputs, for voc, keyboard and guitar. Has anyone a personal recommendation? the roland microcube is always recommended - BTW what are these like for vocals?

Cheers

Deni

If you use a micro(sized)-mixer you can feed the combined output of that into any single input personal portable PA.

I know a number of people in UK and USA who use assorted 12 volt vehicle designed kit (Usually on a modified shopping trolley) for
amplified busking wita a fair degree of success .

If you want the "bees knees" try the AER Compact Mobile Amp

Ideal for busking, village fétes and other outdoor gigs, the Compact mobile is essentially identical to the Compact 60 in operation, with the addition of an Auxilliary input to attach a battery powered CD player.

The batteries provide enough power to play without the mains for three to four hours, and the intelligent power control warns when the battery is getting low, preventing embarrassing losses of power during performance, and preventing the batteries being completely exhausted. A cable to connect to a cigarette lighter socket is available seperately

2 inputs plus the CD input - use a minimixer for your three inputs - AER make the best Acoustic Amps I've ever used - vocals sound good as well!

I use a AER 60 for back line then DI into the main mixer - brill.

not cheap - but well worth it

I can't speak to the issue of battery power, but the Roland sound great--I just hosted an event--we had a keyboardist and vocalist who both went through one--filled up a big room--
