26 Feb 05 - 12:11 PM (#1421534) Subject: BS: People Get Ready From: dianavan Listened to a the radio and heard comments about why Canada would be a country qualified to help draft the Iraqi constitution. Seems that because Canada is continually dealing with bi-lingualism and multi-culturalism, it is in a unique position of helping to sort out some of the difficulties in a country like Iraq. All of a sudden my heart swelled with hope. I wondered if it could be possible that out of all the pain and suffering, a new age could be dawning for the people of the middle east. I decided that perhaps the time had come for everyone to put their faith in the people of Iraq and hope for the best. This song kept going through my mind: People get ready, there's a train a comin' picking up passengers coast to coast All you need is faith to hear the diesels a-hummin' [...] among the loved the most. People get ready for that train to Jordan picking up passengers [...] All you need is faith to hear those diesels a-hummin' Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner Who would hurt all mankind just to save his own Have pity on those whose chances get slimmer For there's no hiding place among the Kingdom's throne So people get ready, there's a train a-comin' don't need no baggage, you just get on board All you need is faith to hear the diesels a-hummin' Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord |

26 Feb 05 - 12:40 PM (#1421553) Subject: RE: BS: People Get Ready From: JennyO Dianavan, four minutes before you started this thread, I posted some of the words of "People get ready" on the "You must leave now" thread, following your post. Did you see my post, or did the words you posted remind you of it too, or is it some sort of amazing coincidence? Just curious. I would like to think that there is cause for hope for the people of the middle east. Maybe a new age is dawning - I really hope so. That idea about Canada has a lot of merit, I think. I have never been there, but from what I have heard, it does seem to be more enlightened in lots of ways than many other countries, my own (Australia) included. Jenny |

Actually, we do have a venomous viper, the rattlesnake, but it's mostly just in southern Ontario near where Little Hawk lives so it's OK. |

26 Feb 05 - 01:32 PM (#1421601) Subject: RE: BS: People Get Ready From: dianavan JennyO - It was an amazing coincidence. That song has been in my head now for a few days. Its a tune that just won't go away for some reason. Maybe its a feeling that sometimes great things arise after a period of oppression. Maybe its a last gasp of hope. |

26 Feb 05 - 05:53 PM (#1421800) Subject: RE: BS: People Get Ready From: John O'L For some time now I have privately entertained the apparently absurd suspicion that the Age of Aquarius is in fact dawning after all, and that what we have recently been witnessing is a sort of brilliant blood-red sunset to the Age of Pisces. Canada has always seemed a special place to me too, and I can't say why, but the suggestion that the Canadians might take a leading roll in eatablishing peace seems to me more positive than most else I've heard lately |

Our pollies seem to have always slavishly followed the USA - at least the noses of the pollies in Canada don't seem to be as brown. |

26 Feb 05 - 08:57 PM (#1421938) Subject: RE: BS: People Get Ready From: GUEST Yes Canada's the best country in the world I believe that. But it's pretty insensitive to post a song about Jordan and the Lord when dealing with a Muslim country. That's most of the problem! |
