Just a reminder that Les Barker is appearing at Baldock & Letchworth Folk Club tonight, supported by that very popular local duo Life & Times.

Weather OK here, no snow.

Sue

So, like, where is Baldock & Letchworth Folk Club? I'm gonna do some math and surmise it's east of me (I'm in Central Texas). You posted at 12:08pm on 04 Mar. I'm looking at it before noon here. How far east are you? Maybe other side of "the pond"?    Tw

Hi Tannywheeler. yes you are right, it's along way for you to come, but please do, if you are in the area. It is in Hertfordshire South England U.K.

BTW, Sue -- if I'm in time for it -- let Mr. Barker know he's got fans in Central Texas. His recorded recitations show up on our Folkways (Saturday morning folk music) radio program often. We hope he keeps on keepin' on.               Tw

Saturday morning folk music? That sounds bliss.

Our local "listener-supported public radio station" is KUT-fm. They have a locally produced-aired show on Saturdays starting at 10am. It did run all the way to 4pm with the same host. The duty alternated between Ed Miller, a Scot who sings all over, and Dave Oberman. Usually one of those 2, with occasional help from others -- such as Tom Pittman, a member of The Austin Lounge Lizards. Also there used to be another regular, Dan Foster. The show has recently been broken up. The usual hosts have it from 10 til 1pm, then the jazz guy does from 1 til 3pm, but using "folk" material from the station's library, I think. Then at 3 a different show called "Live Set" comes on, mostly directly from the KUT studios, with an hour of live performance from one artist or particular band. (Wide variety of musical genres) This latter show used to occur on Sunday evenings. Some of us are a bit ticked off about the changes. There are other days when the jazz guy has time, and he's knowledgeable and pleasant, but the Saturday show is the only local folk program.

And there's a (long-term) weekday host who also plays some of Mr. Barker's recordings. These are obviously people of great taste and perspicacity.             Tw

You are very lucky. We get one hour a week on the radio. The Mike Harding Show.
