27 Mar 05 - 10:25 AM (#1444784) Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter.... From: Amos I was out in the morning on this remarkable anniversary, taking a constitutional. The sky was pale blue, tinged with gold, the sun was just over the horizon, and the sky was busy with larks and other odd birds swooping around snatching breakfast from the air. The entire region is bursting with green from the record rains of the last quarter, the houses all looked clean and golden in the sunlight, and the little old Navy town of San Diego has never looked prettier. Life is busy and blooming and pretty happy to be what it is. A Spring dawn like this one is enough to wake up visions of resurrection and renewal in even the most hard-bitten rationalist. Blessing on us one and all, and may your renewals all be joyous. A |

27 Mar 05 - 05:21 PM (#1445107) Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter.... From: LilyFestre Hey! No knocking good 'ole Jed Clampett...bunnies and squirrels are mighty tasty little critters! In our house, my husband and I have a tradition of going for a picnic on Easter Sunday. Being that Easter is so early this year and everything here is either slush or mud, we decided to hold our picnic inside today! We grilled hotdogs, had some beans and homemade macaroni and cheese! My mom fixed up some of her famous salad and made a strawberry pie! We even had watermelon! We are in agreement that it makes NO SENSE to spend the entire day cooking in order to celebrate or have a get-together....it's about being together and celebrating the day, and that's just what we did! 27 Mar 05 - 07:28 PM (#1445179) Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter.... From: frogprince Probably the most flat out beautiful Easter celebration I ever saw: a church in Chicago 30-some years ago: A whole bunch of the highschool- agers dancing and whirling up the aisle, with tamborines and whatever else imaginable, to the one perfect song in the world for it; "Lord of the Dance." Hey, Bobert, don't sweat it; even M.G. just messed around a little without screamin' anything foul. Rejoice and let the dance go on. |
27 Mar 05 - 07:34 PM (#1445182) Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter.... From: Jerry Rasmussen Hey, Bobert! Today was a joyous day, indeed! We had a great service at the black Baptist church we go to in New Haven.. the Men's Chorus sang and they were really moving. And then, the little kids did a program which ad all the humor and good feelings of a Charlie Brown Christmas Special. I love this day. Too bad some people can't just let you have a joyful day with out trying to diminish it. Fortunately, they can't put a dent in this day! Hallelujah! Jerry |

28 Mar 05 - 07:26 PM (#1445648) Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter.... From: GUEST,Liz the Squeak Dragging this kicking and screaming above the 'line'..... The Flemish word 'Paas' and the German 'Pasche' (both translating as 'Passion' and meaning Easter) give us the root of the word Pace - as in the Pace Egging Song..... Here's one, two, three jolly lads all in one mind We have come a pace egging and I hope you'll prove kind And I hope you'll prove kind with your eggs and strong beer And we'll come no more nigh you until the next year Does anyone still go Pace Egging? 29 Mar 05 - 01:58 AM (#1445703) Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter.... From: GUEST,Liz the Squeak Amos - I was surprised too, but it makes a sort of sense, when you think of the tribes that inhabited England mostly having a Teutonic background with Celtic input. 'Easter' origins gives a little more information. A day in which we have learnt something, is a day we have not wasted. The day I learnt how to work a search engine was a bad day for everyone!!! LTS |
