04 Apr 05 - 03:24 AM (#1451434) Subject: RE: podcasts From: GUEST I dont know much about them other than what I heard on the recent World in your ear prog on BBC radio 4 Basically it is a radio programme that is downloadable that you can subscribe to and recieve on a regular basis. The original concept was to give iPod users something akin to radio programmes on their favourite topics instead of being tied to corporate radio stations. Its still down loading stuff off the internet but there are directories where you can find a range of programmes This format has been taken on board by amateurs and enthusiasts and seems ideal for niche interests who are forever being overlooked by the corporations Sometime ago I posted a thread here asking for favourite internet radio stations and got a good response which brought some interesting stuff to light I thought a similar thing would happen with this thread |

15 Jun 05 - 09:51 AM (#1501580) Subject: RE: podcasts From: kitchen piper Hello! I know this is a bit late, but I only just found the thread! Podcasting is basically a new way of delivery radio content so that you can download using the blogger style RSS function. What makes it different from radio is that you download it to your computer (and then into your iPod if you so wish) so you can take the content away with you and listen at your leisure. I've just completed a little paper-ette thing (MAed module) on podcasting to teach tunes. Check it out and also the accompanying website. :-) Vix |
01 Jul 05 - 01:35 PM (#1513826) Subject: RE: podcasts From: GUEST How do I get the podcast onto the pod? There's an interesting-sounding programme on BBC Radio 4 next week on "textual forensics", but I doubt I'll be in to listen; however, if I downloaded it, it would be ideal dog-walk listening - if I can get it onto my iPod Mini. |

02 Jul 05 - 12:49 PM (#1514254) Subject: RE: podcasts From: PatrickCostello A podcast is nothing more than a mp3 file with an rss file attched to it. The initial idea was to download files to an iPod, but it's grown beyond that into something . . . well where it's all heading is still up in the air. We've just started a series of banjo lessons via podcast. http://patrickcostello.blogsome.com/2005/06/30/virtual-banjo-lessons/ |

17 Aug 05 - 01:37 PM (#1544123) Subject: RE: podcasts From: PatrickCostello We've had to move our podcast banjo lesson series to a new server. We've also added lessons in tenor banjo, advanced frailing banjo and even some blues guitar stuff. The new URL is:http://howandtao.com If anybody is interested in adding a workshop into the mix or even starting up a podcast lesson series let me know. -Patrick |

07 Jan 24 - 03:40 PM (#4195091) Subject: RE: podcasts From: GUEST,BlackAcornUK This thread feels like it could be worth reviving - does anyone have folk music podcast recommendations? Personally, I'm particularly interested in the 'long discussion' style format - singers and musicians talking about their interests, practice and careers etc - things like The Old Songs https://tradfolk.co/podcasts/the-old-songs-podcast/old-songs-podcast-series-1/ ...and Folk on Foot https://www.folkonfoot.com ...Any other recommendations? |
