BS: Neil Young surgery

WINNIPEG (CP) - Rock legend Neil Young is recovering from surgery for a brain aneurysm, Juno organizers said Friday.

The revelation came after Billboard.com quoted an unnamed Young publicist as saying the musician experienced ''visual field disturbances'' two weeks ago and an MRI scan revealed an aneurysm.

Rather than having the surgery immediately, the publicist said, Young opted to spend the next week in Nashville recording a future project. Tuesday's procedure was called ''a complete success'' and Young is expected to make a full recovery, Billboard.com reported.

Young was forced to cancel his appearance Sunday at the Juno Awards because of the surgery.

The singing legend has always made it point to avoid awards shows and commercially minded music gatherings.

After attending the Junos in 1982, where he was inducted into Canada's Music Hall of Fame, Young said he wasn't "really big on awards shows" and would only attend the event again if it was held in Winnipeg.

I'm glad he's OK. The first song I ever played was a Neil Young song. "Out On The Weekend", I think. Although I never really took to the guitar I'm eternally grateful to him for getting me into playing music.

Go Neil. Get better soon.

So should we make up a suite at the NYCFTTS and let him recover in relative peace?

Given Neil Young's musical accomplishments gnu, I would think this shouldn't have a BS prefix. A phenominal musician.

Glad to hear he is recovering well.

Right down the hall from mine and across from Shatner's.

Wonder why Shatner & Young never did any sessions together? It would have been superb!

Because Neil can't sing on key?

Too many Canadians in one room. The Americanos would die of jealousy.

Oh, I considered it but I figured this thread would eventually deteriorate into a BS thread anyway. Besides, real 'Cats read both sides of the lines, eh.

true gnu . Interesting how Dylan, Cohen and Young all have voices that would not be considered euphonious, but all three are musical genius's IMNSHO.

Slight thread creep. (!) While on our Yorkshire break over Easter Herself and I went to NT property Nunnington Hall. In the gallery they had an exhibition of Graham Nash's photographs,(promoting his book of them) including several of a young Neil Young, usually looking, er, "spaced out".
Hope he'll be OK soon.

Shatner, Young, and Littlehawk.

Sounds like a law firm if I ever heard of one.

Try and imagine this f*cked-up world without him. Yes, you'd miss the pain. Can't wait for your next album, Neil. Take care.
