Okay, gang, I'm looking at the summer schedule and thinking about festivals.....I'd like to try to get to a couple this year and with the price of airline tickets, have to choose and plan wisely.

I've been dreaming about getting to Old Songs for a few years now....and Clifftop's a possibility...Am thinking seriously about Folk Life....

SO...where y'all going this summer? And when?

Susquehanna Music & Arts, Old Songs, New Bedford Summerfest, Champlain Valley Folk Festival, Philadelphia Folk Fest.    Each has their own style, each is a lot of fun.

I'll be staying in the US, Leadfingers...THIS summer, anyway!

Thanks for those suggestions, Ron. I'll look into those.

I went to Whitby Folk Week in England a couple of years ago, KT. It was an experience I'll never forget.

That comment could be taken in several different ways, Joe...

I'm heading over the pond to the Cambridge, Eastleigh and Broadstairs Festivals in late July / early August.

I'm also gonna pop into Sidmouth for a few hours to see why it inspires such hostility and infighting on mudcat.

Try this K.T.
www.tradmusic.com/index.asp
Once you have the site click in the top line where it says "Festivals". Once you are there, check in the counrty of your choice. Great site.

Don't forget Falcon Ridge if you are into contemporary music.   What part of the country will you be in and when?

Thanks for the tip, Beer. I'll have a look at that site.

Ron, I don't know yet what my travel plans will be. That's what I mean...I'm in the planning stages right now, and at this point, I'm quite flexible and open to planning a trip around festivals. I may make a trip to NY and if so, Old Songs is a very real possibility this year. It would be great to meet some fellow Catters at the same time.

Bud - I suggest you look in at the Middle Bar song sessions in the Anchor at Sidmouth, and the Theatre Bar at the Manor Pavilion, to find out why Sidmouth festival also inspires the love and affection that have kept it going for 50 years!

If old time music is your obsession, you've gotta go to Clifftop. Otherwise, pick some of the folkier festivals.
