From: S. Truesdale

I am trying find some info on several songs my Grandmother used to sing to us a children (1950's). Here are lyrics I remember:

1. Pretty pretty pansies, oh how bright they used to be, as bright as the golden promises my true love gave to me...

2. Hello central give me heaven for my mommy's there. You will find her with the angels on the golden stairs...

3. ...for he did go down into he meadow for to mow, Tommy to rye rue Tommy to rye rue rye aye.

I would appreciate any help In finding these songs.

Try putting [Springfield Mountain]into the search box upper right for a version of the third song. I bet Gene will know something about the first two. (or try Cowpie).Blessings,
Barbara

See SPRINGFIELD MOUNTAIN.

Hello central give me heaven" sounds like it's the Carter tune. I don't find it in the DT but I've got the lyrics on an album although both turntables are down. Pete Peterson probably knows all the words. How bout it Dr. Peterson? harp

I started to write this earlier in the day, then got an Illegal Operation! Hello, Central Give Me Heaven is a Charles K. Harris song from 1901, you can find it at The Levy Sheet Music Site. Just enter the title in the search box.
