Singer-Songwriter Forum

trac (www.trac-cymru.org) is organizing a songer-songwriter day - "My Words, My Song" - on 2nd July at the Coliseum in Aberdare. Martyn Joseph is the 'headliner' on the day, but there will also be speakers dealing with the business end of things as well as sourcing historical information. (The whole day will be about singer-songwriters within traditional music.)

It's open to all and you can get more information by phoning 01446 771470 or PMing me.

Hope to see some 'Catters there!

Wish I could be there, maybe they can have a short workshop for me when I visit UK in August.

we'll hold one in St Albans headlined by Mike and El Greko then, sure we can get Chris Flegg who penned the runer up song at Maidenheads songwriting contest and possibly the winner, Les Sullivan he ought to be back from Vancouver by then to attend and contribute.
Mike is scheduled to appear on 10th Aug.

Now will Mike Deavin be available, but then again, they will be all going to Broadstairs.

O K Moses , you can come too.

there it is isnt it?

Runer up? Sheesh, you're hardliners. We let our songwriters use the Roman alphabet as well as English and Welsh. I think I'd have a hard time drawing in the punters if they had to write in runes.

But I am impressed ...

What fun, thanks Breezy. I love meeting other song writers and comparing songs and styles. This trip is going to be a hoot. Can't wait til it starts.

Breezy, when and where? Jon is always looking out for songwriting sessions and although it's a long way to come from Cornwall, you never know.

Would love to be there, Sian, but it's the International Festival of the Sea in Portsmouth that weekend, and we're booked to regale the punters with items of a nautical nature - perhaps the next time?

Oh well. That time of year we're bound to conflict with all kinds of things. Unfortunately it was the only Saturday Martyn could do (we've been trying to arrange it for months!)

Just thought I'd refresh this as it's now 'looming'. Seems the thread has got a bit jumbled in the recent Mudcat Upsets but the sense is still there.

The day will also have speakers from the National Museum of Wales and Community Music Wales to talk about sourcing historical material and various aspects of 'the business' of trad. music.
